YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING SUPPLIES WHEN YOU LEAVE YOUR HOME; PUT THEM ALL TOGETHER IN A DUFFEL BAG OR OTHER LARGE CONTAINER IN ADVANCE:

____ Flashlight with plenty of extra batteries ____ Battery-powered radio with extra batteries ____ First aid kit ____ Prescription medications in their original bottles, plus copies of the prescriptions ____ Eyeglasses (with a copy of the prescription) ____ Water (at least one gallon per person is recommended; more is better) ____ Foods that do not require refrigeration or cooking ____ Items that infants and elderly household members may require ____ Pet food and supplies ____ Medical equipment and devices, such as dentures, crutches, prostheses, etc. ____ Change of clothes for each household member ____ Sleeping bag or bedroll and pillow for each household member ____ Backup of computer on some type of external hardrive ____ Checkbook, cash and credit cards ____ Map of the area IMPORTANT PAPERS TO TAKE WITH YOU:

HOME PREP CHECKLIST ____ Pick up anything that can be moved by the wind (bicycles, lawn furniture). ____ Close windows, doors and hurricane shutters. If you do not have hurricane shutters, close and board up all windows and doors with plywood. ____ Sandbag around your home in low-lying areas. ____ Turn the refrigerator and freezer to the coldest setting and keep them closed as much as possible so that food will last longer if the power goes out. ____ Turn off propane tanks and unplug small appliances. ____ Stock up on gas for vehicles and generator. ____ When leaving pets behind, make sure there is an adequate supply of food and water. ____ Take photos of interior and exterior of home.
