Pearl Whitfield for Women's History Month

Sarasota was booming in 1925, The year that Pearl moved there. She and her husband, John, Bought the “prettiest” house on the bay, at the time But time has a way of changing and Pearl tells it all” The Boom and the gloom in Sarasota from 1920-1960 in her life times

Rose Wilson

Here is the women behind the pen. Rose ran the only newspaper in Sarasota in 1900 and her editorials spearheaded the many changes in the area during her life and times when Sarasota became a county and women were encouraged to vote.

A theater educator, playwright and trained actress with a love of history, Kathryn performs “Life and Times Portrayals” of 10 historic women. She is a member of the Sarasota Area Playwrights’ Society, Arts Alliance

Playreaders, Historical Society of Sarasota County, Venice Historical Society, Sarasota Historical Preservation Society and is on the board of the Friends of the Sarasota History Center Kathryn is a national presenter with the National Women’s History Alliance She is also a local tour guide for Discover Sarasota Tours.

One area that holds particular fascination is the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in shaping our future Its potential applications span from medical diagnosis to autonomous vehicles, and it's evident that this technology will have a substantial impact on society While the extent of AI integration into our daily lives remains to be determined, it's unquestionable that it will significantly transform how we interact with technology and each other.

Charles Feldman, a seasoned technology industry leader who recognizes the vital role technology plays in our lives. Chuck began his career in wireless technology, specifically in information delivery to mobile devices, and now concentrates on home product delivery technology. From 2017 to 2019, Chuck was an Executive-in-Residence and Faculty Instructor for Supply Chain & Logistics at the Ricardi School of Business in Bridgewater, MA He holds an M S in Management of Technology from NYU Tandon School of Engineering's Department of Technology Management and Innovation

Memories Matter

Join author and facilitator, Dr. Susan O. for a lively and informative discussion highlighting the role of memories in defining our lives. We will focus on such questions as “ What do we value? How do we honor what is Important in our past? What is the role of your memories in shaping the person you are today? How would those near and dear to you describe your legacy?” Techniques for discovering how to make your memories permanent will be described because “memories matter ”

Dr Susan O is a retired higher education Professor in communications She was raised in Utica, New York and is a graduate of Rollins College, University of Georgia, and The Ohio State University Susan’s publications are the “Quinn’s Discovery Series” which are children’s books about a young boy who “always tries, believes, and loves.” Her recent book, ”No More”, is a provocative mystery set in a Florida adult community. Writing Your Memories

This is an audience participatory class for anyone wanting to write about his/her life., but uncertain where to begin or in what form to frame their story We will discuss Autobiography, Journaling, Memoirs, Fictionalizing and examples of each, focusing on similarities and differences. We will then determine which style is best suited for each person’s project by exploring the questions of audience and author’s purpose in writing. The focus will be on Memoirs: Event/Experience based or Thematic. I will talk about my published Memoir, A Child of War.

Resident Fellow Ewa H. was born in Nazi occupied Poland in the middle of WW2. After the war, she eventually escaped Communist Poland with two younger sisters to join their parents in America. As a young child, she was traumatized by the war During her growing years, she was wounded by the unresolved trauma suffered by her parents, extended family and friends that was inevitably passed on to her She graduated from the University of Montreal with a major in Slavic and East European Studies, worked for several years for the Department of Social Services and received her graduate degree in Psychotherapy and Counseling from Norwich University. After retiring from private practice, she served as Director and CEO of a small private college of Oriental Medicine in Gainesville, Florida She currently resides with Rumi the Cat in Sarasota, Florida Her next project is Book 2 of the mystery book series "Mountainside Mysteries" under the pen name Chris Hunter.

Elaina Wheaton grew up on the island of Guam. She studied biology at the University of Guam while working at UnderWater World, the local aquarium, as an aquarist and diver. She continued to work for the aquarium in various positions including Education Coordinator, Director of Education and Front of House Manager While pursuing her Master's degree, she worked for the Guam Coastal Management Program as a Special Project Coordinator, developing and implementing a community-based social marketing campaign to prevent wildfires and restore watersheds. She later moved back into the education field where she developed environmental literacy curricula for the University of Guam, and taught Environmental and Marine Biology courses as an adjunct instructor with the Guam Community College Her goal is to provide opportunities for people to engage in science and connect with the environment in fun, interactive, and meaningful ways to inspire stewardship for natural resources.

As Virtual Learning Programs Manager at Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, Jason Robertshaw connects schools to STEM experts through virtual programs, designing and delivering engaging content for diverse audiences With a background as a certified Florida Master Naturalist and Instructor, Jason manages educational technologies and leads Mote's lifelong learning program, Endless Oceans. His extensive expertise in marine science education is evident through advisory roles with the Florida Marine Science Educators Association and the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration. Jason also instructs FMSEA/FWC Aquatic Species Collection Workshops and is a member of national associations, showcasing his commitment to advancing education in marine sciences

We do legacy differently YOU are the best authority on YOU Feet to the Fire Writers' Workshop encourages people to work hard to write the stories of their own life This writing program provides an opportunity for lifelong learning and connection with your fellow residents.

Angela Burton, Founder of Feet to the Fire Writers’ Workshops®, was inspired by her father, Joe Kirtley, who left a legacy of stories, essays, and poems He needed connection to the world he’d once found comfort in, a “voice” and purpose to be heard as he aged. Feet to the Fire provides meaning for many, through the act of expressive writing. It works because it’s built around the human need to belong. It’s all about PURPOSE Burton holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and has been inspiring writers for more than 25 years
