Spotting the difference between a pure silk rug and an artificial silk requires in-depth knowledge and guidance. It is not easy to differentiate between the two since they both look the same in appearance and design. Can you Spot the difference between the two Silk Carpets?

There are a number of ways to find out the difference between an Artificial and Pure Silk Carpet. For example: A) Burning Test This is the best way to find out the difference between the two silk carpets. Take a knife and shred some thread from the center of a silk carpet. Roll it in a vertical format and light the same with a match stick and immediately blow it off. If it continues burning and smells like a Fire Cracker, it is Artificial Silk. If it blows off immediately on its own and smells like burnt hair, it is Pure Silk.

B) Counting the Number of Knots In Pure Silk carpets, there are 2 types of Silk Carpets namely; Pure Silk on Silk and Silk on Cotton. In Silk on Silk, the base and top would be pure silk. In Silk on Cotton, the base would be cotton and the top would be silk.

It is important to count the number of knots in the same. In a Pure Silk Carpet, the average number of knots could range from 325- 600 knots per square inch. However, in an artificial silk carpet, the number of knots would be around 100-200 knots and the quality of the same would not be fine.

C) Testing the Quality The quality of a pure silk rug is much finer and supple. If one looks at the back of the carpet, One can easily see the fineness in quality and texture.

However, if one see's the back of an artificial silk rug, it is not fine at all and it is not as soft as a pure silk handmade Kashmir carpet.
