2012 BLUEFIELD COLLEGE WOMEN’S SOCCER NOTES TODAY’S MATCH PREVIEW The women’s soccer team welcomes Chowan University to the East River Soccer Complex for its overall and second home match of the 2012 regular season. This the first meeting between the two programs in the history of the two schools. This will be the opening mark for the Lady Hawks, a NCAA Division II side, as they arrive to Bluefield with an overall record of 0-0. Chowan brings in a diverse team including six freshman and four seniors to their roster. The Lady Rams do not have any Seniors on this year’s roster, but have a heavy Junior class on the horizon. Bluefield currently sits in FIRST PLACE in the current Mid-South Conference Standings, as all but two teams have begun their 2012 campaign to date. The Lady Rams return their two top goal scorers from a year ago including Pattison and Freire.
IN THE PREVIOUS MATCH The Lady Rams opened their 2012 season on a high note by capping off a relentless 2nd-half performance over former AAC competitor, Columbia College, 1-0 last Thursday. The two teams battled it out in a sloppy first half, but the Lady Rams controlled a majority of the possession throughout the match. Bluefield outshot Columbia by a total of 12-7, while Junior GK Kayla Richardson earned her first shutout of the season. Bluefield MF Jessica Dutka got the game-winning goal in the 81st minute by well-played assisted ball by F Enajah Winbush.
