Buckminster Fuller, a 20th-century American architect, systems theorist, author, designer, inventor, and futurist, left a lasting impact with his innovative designs and ideas about sustainability and resource efficiency.

One of his standout concepts was the World Game, a simulation designed to help people comprehend and tackle global challenges such as poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation.

uckminster Fuller’s vision was grounded in the belief that humanity possesses the technology, data and planetary resources to address and solve existential challenges. Yet, these components are unsustainably organized and in a state of disarray, limiting human potential.

His solution: systematically redistribute and restructure resources to “make the world work.”

uller’s World Game gamified the problem-solving process and created a decentralized, bottom-up global planning approach, efficiently tapping into existing data and the ingenuity of a new generation of problem solvers to address these misalignments and reform the obstructive systems and institutions.

But why did Fuller’s concept not succeed?

The answer may be quite simple.

It was ahead of its time.

He lacked the necessary technology.

Today, with the data, AI, computing power, communication and collaboration tools now readily available, Fuller’s World Game is a concept that’s time has come.

WG3: The World Game

is a comprehensive documentary and Web3 project that aims to accomplish what R. Buckminster Fuller could not.

Helmed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Rudy Poe, the project is envisioned as a documentary film and comprehensive Web3 project, that poses a simple rhetorical question: Why not now?

hase One begins by raising awareness of the concept via the production and distribution of a feature documentary that explores the history, evolution, and future potential of the World Game. It demonstrates how technology and innovation can revive Fuller’s concept into a potent 21st-century tool.

In contrast to Fuller’s solutions-based idea, the documentary also examines human nature, which both ignites creative genius and impedes progress. This duality stands as a poignant reminder today, as we grapple with existential crises Fuller forewarned decades ago.

Through interviews with a wide range of experts and thought leaders, and illustrative visuals, the documentary provides an immersive exploration of human development, choices, and potential.
