Trip Itinerary “Explore Remote Valleys” Day 1: Arrival in Dawson City Arrival from connecting program (Explore Secret Waterways | Beaver River 15 days). Pickup at the Dawson City Airport and transfer to the hotel. You will have time to discover the town and do some shopping. We meet all group members and discuss the trip itinerary. Overnight in a hotel. Day 2: Dawson City / Tombstone Park Drive with Van to Tombstone Territorial Park (Dempster Highway). We fly via Helicopter into the magnificent “Patagonia of the Yukon”, the Tombstone Mountain Range. We setup our Base Camp at Azure Lake. [Hiking time: 1 to 4 hours] Day 3-6: Tombstone Park These next 4 days will be spent exploring the spectacular beauty of the majestic mountains. From the Base Camp at Azure Lake we will hike the Mountain Ridges and Valleys to Syenite Lakes, Divide Lake and Tombstone Mountain. One of the hikes is to Syenite Lakes over a pass into a great open northern mountain valley. There is a ridge of mountains that runs parallel to the West Blackstone River and it is accessible from Azure Lakes. The ridge allows to get up high and have a look around at the surrounding landscape. The imidiat area surrounding Azure Lake area provides excellent hiking opportunities as well. There are a number of small lakes surrounding the main lake, which are worthwhile exploring. Day hikes from our Base Camp into the surrounding Mountains at the feet of Tombstone Mountain. [Hiking time: 4 to 10 hours] Day 7: Tombstone Park / Dawson City In the morning wee fly back to the Dempster Highway via Helicopter where our Van is going to pick us up to drive to Dawson City. Here we discover the historic gold town and home of many legends. A visit to the Jack London and Robert Service cabins are on the program. A highlight is the drive into the Bonanza and Eldorado Creeks where the Discovery Claim of the Klondike Gold Rush is located. If time allows we will drive up the “Midnight Dome”, the mountain overlooking Dawson. We can stroll through the quaint little town where so many buildings from the gold rush era are preserved. In the evening we watch Can-Can girls in the casino “Diamond Tooth Gerties”. Overnight in a hotel. Day 8: Departure Dawson City Transfer to airport or connecting program.
