LANDSCAPE DESIGN PROJECTS By the joining of two of Minneapolis’s prominent historical times and cultures energy & beliefs.

The area now called St. Anthony’s Falls, has common respect and importance given to it and the area. In this project Father Hennepin Park on the eastern side of the falls was redesigned to bring not only the forgotten beliefs and culture of the past back to the ares but the current culture and beliefs more dominantly into it’s surroundings.

Cub Foods Parking Park Minimizing the amount of hard surfaces and bringing about a connectivity between green space in North Minneapolis is important for the health of the people of the area. This project transforms the West Broadway & Lyndale Cub Foods store and parking lot. The store its self is reduced in size to accommodate a permanent covered farmers market/ flea market space for the residents while the parking lot is design to be a multi-use space that includes a park for families, a transit hub, a community entertainment space and car parking.

Cub Foods will be a site that serves as an important connector of a larger green connection. In the area there are currently three areas of green space for the community, but a series of spaces are proposed for the near future.

North Minneapolis’ West Broadw Foods is located on the crossroa of the area’s main pedestrian an transportation corridors (West B & Lyndale Ave North). Lyndale ru north/south and West Broadway East /West. This area is close in p to interstate 94 and Northeast M Multiple types of green space al these streets will provide a more healthy and safe environment. Sheridan Community Design The Sheridan community is a very vibrant artistic community on the Mississippi River in Northeast Minneapolis. This area has a feeling of recycling of the old to make something new, and this was my approach when developing this design. The project started out with a site on the eastern side of the Mississippi river, but it grew in order to bring a connection of not only Sheridan to the river, but also North Minneapolis.

Connection through transit and park systems makes this design important.

DKA Design DKA is a childcare and learning center for children 6 weeks-12years of age. Their focus is education through many forms for a wide age range of children. So when designing everything from logos, colors and room design, the way the child, equally parent and staff will feel about all of these things is important.

Discovery Baby is a dynamic program that focuses on individual child growth and milestones. Each month something new is introduced to each child: • Sensory exploration • Sign language, pictures, singing • Foods- New foods are introduced • Infant/ toddler exercise • Outdoor discoveries Besides, we help our babies develop their fine & large motor skills development. In this program and in our others, parents communication is very important.

So we keep our parents informed throughout the day through pictures, feeding & diapering schedules and funny anecdotes about each child.

The Discovery Baby program has a progressive curriculum that helps older toddlers prepare for preschool through early preschool reading and math exploration activities.

TIF Organization Design TIF is an organization that is based in the United Stares but supports Africans here and in Africa. This is visible through the use of the African map silhouette formed into the logo and the name. The countries that are strongly represented are from the west coast and so blue representing the ocean is used for it’s dominent colors.

TIF is also an organization that rents a multi-use space, and because of this portable design elements are used.

Analytical Representation This project was a series of exercises that introduced me to an interesting and usefull way of using design programs. Multiple computer programs techniques can be used in order to represent environmental site analisis that can also later be incorporated into design.
