WAYNE’S WORLD

A very warm welcome to all attending the match this afternoon at the Recreation Ground, home of Ruardean Hill Rangers Football Club.

We would like to offer a special welcome to the players, management, and supporters of Hanham Athletic for this Marcliff Gloucestershire County League fixture. We hope they enjoy their short stay with us and have a safe journey home

Today's match is the final home game of the season on the Hill. We have invited our club sponsors to the game today. We wish to thank them for their contribution to the football club for season 2023-24. Their sponsorship is vital in the club running 3 teams each week.

Hanham Athletic currently sit 7th in the league table with 39 points from 23 games. Their game last week resulted in 4-2 loss at Cheltenham Civil Service. The Hanham goals were scored by Brandon Robin Barnes and Paul Coles The match today is being replayed as the game earlier in the season was abandoned due to a head injury to the Hill's, Kane Fellows. We are scheduled to visit Hanham on Monday 6th May. 3.00pm kick off

Ruardean Hill’s previous first team match was away at Broadwell Amateurs which resulted in a 2-1 defeat. The Hill started well, but allowed Broadwell to take a 2-0 lead, before Taylor Blaby replied before half time. The Hill dominated possession in the second half but could not force an equaliser A solid performance from the Hill with all the players disappointed that they did not take anything from the game.

In the North Glos Premier Division, the Reserve team lost 3-0 to Westbury United on the Hill. In Division 3, Ruardean Hill Rangers A beat Rank Outsiders Reserves by 8 goals to 2 at Steam Mills The Hill goal scorers were Matt Cook, Lee Johnson, Cam Peacey, Dan Edwards, Ryan Shinners and three goals from Connor Dix

The Reserve team finish their league programme today at Ellwood A difficult season for the reserves, although recent performances have led to optimism of an improvement in results for next season.

The A team play at Sling on Wednesday. 6.30pm kick off and your support would be appreciated.

Finally, we hope you enjoy today’s game and we would like to thank everyone for their support this season

We hope to see you again during season 2024-25.

Thanks Midge

HANHAM ATHLETIC history

Hanham Athletic FC are one of the oldest clubs in the Bristol area The Gloucestershire Football Association recognises the club as being founded in 1896, but the club's establishment is believed to have been much earlier. During the 19th-century Hanham was a small mining village bordering the south east of Bristol, and in the club’s early days the players lived locally, many of them coming to play straight from a shift in the pits. A tradition and history which is still recognised today with the club’s nickname 'The Miners'.

We are a committee led Community Amateur Sports Club that manages Men’s football teams across a number of leagues, leases and maintains the sports pavilion and grounds of Hanham Athletic FC – titled The Hallet Construction Pavilion

Over the years we have offered the opportunity for regular football to thousands of boys and men, with c 100 people signing on to our books each year We were founder members of the Gloucester County League in the late 1960s and have previously very successfully played county league football for many years with a proud history of honours and promotions. We run our First, Reserve and Vets teams and operate a talented Sunday team We have, in the past, won awards for our grounds work and programmes.

We, many years ago - played in the FA cup, almost getting to Wembley, as well as the FA Vase during the 1970s. In 1980 the club started our own Charity Shield Competition running tournaments with 16 teams participating and we continue to run tournament and charity events almost every year We are a family friendly club, with a strong social following, a determination to support people, and a huge passion for football.

Tom Morgan and Jason Side (aka Skinney & Sider) were appointed the management team of our our 1st Team for the 2021/2022 season and despite great efforts we were relegated to the Bristol Premier Combination League for the 2022/2023 season.

The 2022/2023 season for the HAFC 1st team was a resounding success as we won the Bristol Premier Combination League AND the League Cup – great work by all involed with the first team.

Thank you!

We would like to say a huge thank you to mapledean homes ltd for sponsoring our first team tracksuits
