Short title and commencement The Trials Without A Jury Ordinance 2010 repealed

TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS A PROPOSAL FOR A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL THE TRIALS WITHOUT A JURY ORDINANCE 2010 AND FOR CONNECTED PURPOSES.

ENACTED by the House of Assembly of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Short title and commencement 1.

This Ordinance may be cited as the Trials Without A Jury Ordinance 2010 (Repeal) Ordinance and comes into operation on such day as the Governor may appoint by Notice publication in The Gazette.

The Trials Without A Jury Ordinance 2010 repealed 2. (1) The Trials Without A Jury Ordinance 2010 is repealed.

(2) This Ordinance applies in respect of– (a) proceedings for offences committed after the commencement of this Ordinance; (b) proceedings for offences committed before the commencement of this Ordinance where proceedings have not yet commenced.

(3) For the purpose of subsection (1) (b) proceedings shall be considered commenced where charges have been instituted but the trial has not commenced.
