What a week! While accolades and kudos galore have come pouring in for the success of the Ladies’ Classic from visitors, members, and management - it has to be said one more time: Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to pull the entire event together. What an incredible team effort!

Now the men have rejoined the ladies on the course, we just want to say: May your drives be long, your putts be true, and your scorecards be full of birdies.
As many of you may know, Heather Haselgrove has been filling in as financial officer and administrator since the start of 2024. The search for a permanent replacement for this position began in September at Heather’s request, with over 20 applications received. Ultimately our General Manager, Ray Duncan, and Heather chose to interview four strong applicants, with one stand-out candidate ultimately selected for the role of Finance-Admin Officer.
So, we are delighted to introduce you all to Linda Reid who will be working parttime in the office handling Club finances and providing administrative support. Linda has a strong background in finance, having served multiple roles in this field. In addition, Linda comes to us highly recommended, experienced, and credentialed.
Linda lives on her farm at Willunga Hill with her horses, cows, and a menagerie of other farm and domestic animals. She is also the Mum of two daughters, and Grandma to two little ones.
When you see Linda out and about at VHGC or at her desk, please extend a warm welcome. We are so pleased Linda has joined us!
Linda Reid |Finance-Admin Officer
Heather will continue working in the office in the short-term to ensure a smooth transition, and then she will (in her own words) “play more golf!”

VICTOR HARBOR GOLF CLUB
FRIDAY, MAY 2 2025
Ladies’ Classic
This last week was the biggest in Ladies' golf at Victor Harbor Golf Club for the year, with The 44th Annual VHGC Ladies Classic taking place, and what a fabulous week it was. The weather gods were smiling on us and the club pulled together to ensure a great week of golf and festivities. With over $5000 in prizes and the much sought-after Festival of Golf Perpetual Trophy, The Alice Nelson Trophy, up for grabs, there was always going to be some great golf on the course.
Michael Bohnsack and his team along with volunteers had been working very hard, including several 4:30am starts, to ensure the course played and looked stunning, and it certainly ticked both boxes. The Ray Duncan was an incredible support and always there to help, thank you. Heather did not stop and I dont think she slept for at least 72 hours, I cannot thank you enough. All the
administration team was worked furiously behind the scenes to ensure players' needs were met, whilst in The Pro Shop, the Pritchards were flat out making sure everyone had all that they needed. When I arrived a 7am they had already lined up the carts along with players clubs so Im not even sure what time they started. Their patience answering players questions not to mention the odd one or 1000 from me, was really appreciated. Seans energy is boundless helping us move the dinning room around and around and around. Simon and Sam in the 4ORE kitchen were once again producing mouth-watering delights over the week. With Grace, Flo, Cat and Bridget always there with a smile. Thank you.
With 26 clubs and 140 players attending from all over SA, WA and even Tasmania, it was always
going to be a great tournament. The week started on Tuesday with a 9hole competition. It was a great way for those who hadn't played the course before to get a lay of the land and for return players to refamiliarise themselves, but mostly it was for those who no longer play 18 holes to have the opportunity to compete in a major competition. Tee-off was at 2 pm and it was a lovely afternoon on the course. Jo Reeve from Royal Adelaide won with a score of 18, Cathy Saint from Blackwood Golf Club came second on a countback with 18 and Kathy Quinn also from Blackwood came third on 17.
Due to the Ladies’ Classic being held the first week in October, our Ladies Montyhly Medal will now be played on Wednesday, Oct. 9 instead. 9 hole players will play the back 9 holes.
A and B grades played Stroke, and C grades played Stapleford. Things ran smoothly on course thanks to the male members of the club that were spotters and rakers on key holes. Our referee Mike Rice was on the course and always available for any queries and may have been the recipient of Ian's humour.r
The winners on Wednesday were A Grade Nett Catherine Molloy from Glenelg on 73. Angela Gardner from Blackwood on a score of 72 won B Grade and C Grade was won by Elayne Sanders from Oakbank on 40. Well done ladies.
That evening, we hosted welcome drinks and the official opening of The Classic. Wednesday was down to serious business and the start of the 36-hole competition. We were very honored to have some of SA's best ladies' golfers out on the course. Pg.7
On Thursday the weather gods continued to shine and the course again looked fantastic. Heather Grace won A Grade from Clare on a Nett score of 72. B Grade was won by Kathy Saint from Blackwood on a fantastic score of 67 and Lina Carson from Oakbank had a great day with a score of 40. Congratulations. We had a fabulous dinner on Thursday night thanks to 4ORE and all of the prizes were presented to the winners. This year David Hamilton donated one of his beautiful sculptures for the best overall nett for the two days. This was won by Angela Gardner from Blackwood and was presented by David's wife Judy. In her acceptance speech, an overwhelmed Angela said it was one of the best days of her life.
due to geographic convenience, has moved, and we do miss her. With an amazing score over the 36 hole competition of 176, Tonia took home the top prize, the Alice Nelson Trophy donated in honor of her mother Val Wyld. Well done Tonia and I may have said this a few times over the last week, but we would love to have you back at Victor.
Finally, Friday was our fun day. The sun was still shining and Kaye Carr returned back to the fold, all the way from Bunbury WA, to make her famous scones in the Green Shed, normally served with tea but at VHGC, we serve champagne. Thank you to the Harrisons for donating all of the ingredients for the scones and Eleanor helping Kay. Afterward, we were back up at the clubhouse for a lovely lunch and more presentations. The winners were Catherine Harvey and Bronwyn Kirman from Lake Albert.
The final prize went to Tonia Ross from Glenelg. Tonia has previously been a much loved member of VHGC but Pg.8
