Cryptography models are designed by using advanced mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, communication science, and physics. Applications of cryptography include electronic commerce, chip-based payment cards, digital currencies, computer passwords, and military communications. The adoption of cryptographic technology has raised many legal issues in the information-driven world. In despotic regimes, cryptography is used as a secret punitive tool for espionage and sedition charges against the dissenters. In some jurisdictions, the use of cryptography is legal and laws permit investigators to compel the disclosure of encryption keys for documents relevant to an investigation. Cryptography plays a major role in digital rights management and copyright infringement of digital media.
Supreme Court Allows Open Hearing of Rafale Case Petitions With an embezzlement of Rs. 30,000 crore, the Rafale scam in India is stated to be the biggest government-led fraud in the world. The Supreme Court (SC) of India has allowed open hearing of Rafale review petitions. A bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice S. K. Kaul, and K. M. Joseph decreed on February 26 that the review petitions filed by former Indian ministers Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie along with lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan will be heard in open court. Along with the review petitions, the Court will also hear the correction petition filed by the Central Government, and also the petition filed for initiating perjury proceedings against officials who allegedly misled the Court by submitting false information in the notes submitted to the Court.
