2024 HIGHLIGHTS
CONCERTS
The Roselle Park District achieved significant milestones in 2024. In March, the community voted to pass a referendum, enabling the District to undertake major improvements to its parks and facilities. The Park Board and staff have quickly mobilized to kick off these exciting projects. Additionally, the District secured several awards and grants during this period, further enhancing its ability to serve the community.
In 2024, the Roselle Park District placed a strong emphasis on community and recreation through its participation in several large-scale events. From seasonal events to outdoor concerts, these gatherings fostered a sense of unity and engagement among residents. The District not only organized these events but also encouraged local involvement, resulting in impressive attendance and volunteer participation.
GRANT AWARDS 2024 brief
In 2024, the District was awarded over $950K in grants to support various improvements. The District has already applied for additional funding to assist with projects in 2025. Notable grants awarded include:
• OSLAD Grant: $600,000 for enhancements at Clauss Park
• Managing EAB - $29,750 for Trees
• Urban & Community Forestry Grant - $87,486 for Trees
• DECO Capital Improvement Grant: $200,000 for upgrades at Turner Park
COMMUNITY EVENTS
• DECO Capital Improvement Grant: $40,000 for improvements at Clauss Park
In 2024, the District hosted over 30 special events, encompassing a wide range of community, seasonal, and holiday celebrations. Large free community events like Concerts on Main, Concerts in the Park, and the annual Founders Day Fest attracted thousands of participants. Popular seasonal events included the Daddy Daughter Dance, Mother Son Ball, Fish Release, Spring Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt, and Polar Express. This year, the lineup was further enhanced by the introduction of the Family Wicked Wagon Rides!
TREES & URBAN CANOPY
The Roselle Park District currently cares for and manages 1,500 trees throughout our park system and recognizes the services and function that trees provide as a collective asset to the entire community. The District has adopted, through ordinance, a Tree Protection Policy with the goal of protecting, preserving, and planting trees in the community. In 2024 the District…
• Removed 131 hazardous and diseased trees
• Planted 150 trees, of a diverse variety, throughout the park system
• Adopted an Urban Forest Management Plan

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Parks Day at the Capitol – Staff attended Parks Day at the Capitol, providing an opportunity for state-wide visibility and important engagement with legislators.

Blood Drive – In partnership with Versiti, the District organized a blood drive at the Clauss Recreation Center this summer. The inaugural event attracted over 20 donors, potentially assisting around 48 patients in need. The District plans to continue its collaboration with Versiti to host future blood drives and further support those in need.
Food Pantry Partnership – The park district joined forces with the Roselle Food Pantry to address food insecurity in the community. Residents can drop off wishlist items at the Clauss Recreation Center, with staff delivering these donations to the food pantry each month.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers play a crucial role in the success of the District’s programs and special events. In 2024, over 320 volunteers contributed their time and efforts to various initiatives, including coaching athletic leagues, assisting as preschool parent helpers, supporting the swim team, helping with the Roselle Repertoire Theatre productions, and engaging in tree plantings and special events. Additionally, we greatly appreciate the dedicated residents who serve on the District’s Park and Recreation Committee, providing valuable insights and feedback on programs, events, and park enhancements.

Online Registration
Programs will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Some programs will not be available for online registration 24 hours to two business days prior to the program start date. If you do not have a username and password, we encourage you to go to the register page, select Register Household, and fill out the Online Registration Enrollment Form, you will then be emailed a username and password.
INCLUDE PAYMENT & SIGN WAIVER/ RELEASE
Please note that you need to include full payment and a signed waiver and release for your form to be processed. Credit card payments require an additional signature to authorize payment. For these reasons, we are unable to accept phone-in registrations.
REGISTER EARLY
Nothing ruins a good program quicker than everyone waiting until the last minute to register for it. There is a point where if there aren’t enough registrants to hold the program, it is cancelled. Coming in the day of, or the day before the program won’t resurrect it. Please register at least a week early to avoid disappointment.
WAIVERS
In accordance with the Recreation Department policy, all program participants must sign a hold harmless agreement prior to participation in department sponsored programs. The waivers are on the bottom portion of program registration forms, designated sign-in sheets, and fitness membership applications. These must be signed by the adult participating in an adult program; and by the parent or legal guardian of participant under 18.
WAIT LIST PROCESS
A waitlist is formed when a class reaches participant levels beyond the maximum. The wait list is maintained based on the order we process registrations. Customers will be contacted for confirmation before being added to one of our wait lists (or transferred from a wait list into the desired program) by the front desk or specific program supervisor. Please Note: Before a participant is transferred into a program, all corresponding paperwork and payments are required.
RESIDENCY
Not all Roselle residents are Roselle Park District residents. Even though you may have a Roselle address, you may pay taxes to another park district. Therefore, proof of residency is required when registering for programs for the first time. This may be done with a driver’s license, utility bill, (or a mortgage statement for those who are recently moving to the area). Roselle Park District residents support the district through property tax contributions.
We apologize for any errors that may appear in the brochure. For the most updated content please view our brochure online at rparks.org. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

The Park District, therefore, cannot assume responsibility for personal injury for persons participating in a recreation program or using facilities. Patrons are advised to make provisions for this coverage in their own personal insurance program.

Roselle Racers Swim Team (ES)
Ages 5-18
Give your child the opportunity to build confidence and friendships this summer with the Roselle Racers Swim Team, an official affiliate for the DuPage Swim and Dive Conference. All school age children and teens of varying swim levels and abilities are welcome. Swimmers compete within their own age group and are coached by one of the Lake Park High School’s top coaches Tim Layer. Swimmers should generally be able to swim one full length (50 yards) of the pool, and coaches will observe new swimmers to recommend Racers Swim Team or Junior Racers. Plan to join us this summer for fun, sun, community, and lasting memories.
JUNIOR RACERS (ES)
Ages 5-10
Unsure whether your swimmer is ready for the full swim team? Check out the Junior Racers program where beginner swimmers can get the attention they need to build confidence toward competition. Swimmers work with a coach to practice and learn different strokes and breathing techniques necessary to take them to the next level, in a gentle, pressure-free environment. Junior Racers should feel comfortable swimming at least one length (25 yards) of the pool.
Apply your swim skills, meet new friends, and experience the fun of being a part of a team.
