The key to sustainable urban developement is asking the right questions. We are way too often finding ourselves designing projects that answer the wrong questions. Think twice, and do not think alone. Invite experts with different backgrounds. And people. Co-create a high quality brief, only that can be the starting point. But cities or investors often do not know how to mediate that. It is our responsibility, as professionals in city planning, to help carve the right questions. Not just design.

Architecture is not only the space. It is the people in it and their needs of all kind. It is a process. Architecture influences how we feel, behave and communicate. The crucial role of architects is to try to include everybody in the process. Both human and non-human. To plan process that is inclusive, fun and meaningful on its own. And then design spaces for the unplanned to happen.
