Avond Zicht op landshap

A renovated typical Belgian farmhouse gets a new use. The green space that is surrounding the house plays a big role because of its spaciousness.

The house itself is also very influential because of the type of architecture.

We searched for a design for this garden that follows the architectural lines.

We also wanted to make a big gesture over the entire garden. To do this we made up a strong structureplan before we started to design the details.

One of the questions for this assignment was to create a garden that will be great now, but also flexible in the future. There had to be room for changes in the design, but is has to keep its soul when changes are done in the future.

02 PRIVATE GARDEN, EGCHEL Type of assignment: Professional - garden design Date: September 2015 Location: Egchel, The Netherlands Area: +/-1,5 ha Collaborators: Roy Damen This private garden is positioned around a new build house. The surrounding consist of a typical dutch landscape with fields and small woods.

The customers did not want their garden to be as big as their whole parcel.

We decided to split it up so that their garden became a lot smaller. They wanted to keep the feeling of spaciousness that’s typifying for the place.

We also devided the remaining garden in differend spaces enclosed by hedges. By doing this we created a design that can grow and change in time.

This neighbourhood park has to become a new green space in the city belt of Ghent. This city belt bases a lot of working-class houses. During the industrial revolution this part of the city kept growing and growing to base the workers who worked in factories around the city.

The city of Ghent is providing for more green area’s in the belt that is surrounding the city centre. At the same time this belt is becoming a vibrant place where young people are basing afther they graduate and start a family. This design offers a green place wich is connected to a new housing project called D’N Daele and the entire surrounding area. There’s room for recreation, children can play on a natural way and the ecological aspects are playing a big role.

05 ECOWIJK GANTOISE (ECO NEIGHBORHOOD), GHENT Type of assignment: Academic - landscape architecture Date: December 2015 Location: Ghent, Belgium Area: +/- 5 ha Collaborators: Jasper Boussaert, Roy Damen This project contains a new eco-neighborhood in Gent-Brugge. Because this is a actual project, the masterplan was allready there. During the proces of making the design we followed this masterplan so that it would fit into the real plans.

One of the aspects we thought were important in this design was that there will be differend types of housing. This differences will also be projected onto the green spaces around it. We divided the entire site into public, semi-public, collective and private spaces. In this way we created not only differend kinds of spaces but we also arranged a society with a variety of people.
