Welcome to our nursery

It is a privilege to lead an inspirational nursery which encourages girls to explore and develop in a safe, secure and exciting environment. We are very fortunate to have Cranwell House and its eleven acres as the setting for our thriving nursery. It is a real hidden treasure in Bath. Here, our girls have the space to grow and the freedom to explore and develop a real thirst for knowledge. Spending time outdoors as well as indoors is a brilliant way to inspire young minds, develop real life problem solving skills, experience team work and collaboration. It certainly ensures there is never a dull moment!

Our school is built on the principle that every girl is known to all. Every girl’s voice is heard and every girl’s opinion valued.

The Cranwell Discovery Curriculum

The underpinning principles of our Nursery philosophy are based on the Early Years Foundation stage with the Reggio Emilia approach which puts the child in the driver’s seat with the potential to develop and learn from the people and the world around them.

We have taken the elements that we understand work best for children and families and developed the Cranwell Curriculum. It focuses on creative approaches, independent thinking, enquirybased learning whilst growing the girls’ understanding of the world.

Learning through discovery

Our Environment

Come rain or shine you will find our Nursery children out and about learning in our beautiful grounds. We encourage practical outdoor activities which create memorable experiences, including bug hunting, tree planting and pond fishing.

All our pupils, even the very youngest, have dedicated outdoor learning opportunities, whatever the weather. On any given day your daughter could be growing vegetables in our upcycled greenhouse, performing on our open air stage or exploring our Celtic roundhouse made from wattle and daub.

Essential information

When can my daughter start?

Your daughter can join us in the term she turns three. Our Nursery leads seamlessly through to Reception and on through the Royal High Prep School. We pride ourselves on being a through-school, enabling girls who join us in Nursery to stay with us all the way to the Sixth Form

Flexible sessions

Our Nursery operates Monday to Friday from 7.30am-6pm, and we offer the option of all year or term time only places. All year places are 50 weeks of the year (closed over Christmas and the last week in August)

We offer a variety of sessions so that you can design a schedule that works for your family.

• Full day 7.30am – 6.00pm (includes breakfast, snacks, lunch and a light tea)

• Morning 7:30am-12:30pm (with breakfast, snack and Lunch)

• Afternoons 1.00-6:00pm (with snack and light tea

• Lunch is an optional add-on for morning and afternoon sessions

Food

Our Healthy Eating Schools award-winning catering team provides delicious, healthy and freshly cooked options at every mealtime and caters for all dietary requirements.

School uniform
