‘The Secrets and Science of Scented Plants’ by Emma Desmier

Woodcote Park Thursday 27 January, 7.15pm for 7.30pm Emma Desmier is a respected Fragrance and Sensory Research Scientist. She worked in the beauty and fragrance industry from 1990 where she specialised in fragrance and olfactory research and development. This has included isolating new fragrance materials from plants, through to understanding how fragrances influence the human senses and emotions.

Emma retired from full-time research in 2018 so that she can spend more time working in the botanical world. Currently she lectures at The Plant School where she established the Plant Scent and Taste Course, which aims to teach students about the array of scented and aromatic plants they can grow and use. As a keen gardener and cook, Emma loves spending time in her garden. Her talk will look into the world of scented plants and uncover why and how they produce an amazing array of scents.
