AN INVESTMENT IN AN LEARNEXTRAORDINARYINGENVIRONMENT. AN INVESTMENT IN OUR STUDENTS. AN INVESTMENT IN DEVELOPING PEOPLE THE WORLD NEEDS.

THE YOURS…THEIRS,FUTURE:OURS,

EVERY DAY, ROWLAND HALL STUDENTS are building the skills and confidence that will enable them to be flexible and innovative thinkers and creators. For them, the world awaits.

With more than 150 years of experience in defining excellence in education, Rowland Hall knows the world needs our students’ contributions as well as a bold new vision for what’s possible in education: transformational, authentic learning experiences that give students agency and purpose, connect them to the global community, and empower them to build a better future.

With the help of our donors, Rowland Hall will advance a model for PreK–12 education that not only benefits today’s students but also strengthens both our local community and the world beyond.

Because the world awaits.

AN EXTRAORDINARY VISION

We are called to unlock Rowland Hall’s full potential and to show what’s possible in education. Because the world awaits, our new campus cannot.

An extraordinary vision requires an extraordinary learning environment. To fully bring our vision for education to life, new, state-of-the-art facilities that unite Rowland Hall on one campus are essential. A single, integrated campus designed for transformative education will further elevate learning, amplify teaching, expand programmatic and collaborative opportunities, and bring our community together.

possible in education is bold and empowering, driven by an understanding that today’s students need an educational experience that prepares them for an ever-changing world. As we look to the future, we’re committed to developing people the world needs: for our students, for our communities, for our shared tomorrow.

DINING HALL

Buildings don’t define us, but they do empower us. Our new facility campus plan will, at last, unite Rowland Hall on one campus and offer a learning environment that calls forth our students’ full potential.

RICHARD R. STEINER CAMPUS MOMENT ACTING ON OUR FUTURESHARED

Rowland Hall will build a new Middle School and Upper School, including performing arts and STEM spaces as well as an athletic complex, on the Richard R. Steiner Campus. Our goal is to open the new campus in 2026.

AN EXTRAORDINARY

4

ROWLAND HALL’S STRATEGIC PRIORITIES compel us to do four things: To cultivate a community where everyone thrives. To design authentic learning experiences that develop students’ sense of agency and purpose. To reimagine a curriculum that engages students in solving the world’s greatest challenges. And to provide a learning environment that promotes innovation and collaboration. This final priority drives the campaign to build a new campus, and is key to achieving all four priorities.

PRIORITY ONE

COMMUNITYCULTIVATE

7

Our world’s need for strong communities has never been greater. That’s why we’re focused on supporting students’ growth as empathetic and ethical global citizens. Our ability to do that will leap forward when our entire student body shares one campus—a microcosm of the diverse, dynamic, and vibrant society we hope our students will help create. As educators, we’re investing in the futures of individuals but also in the future of our community and the world. That’s what we see when we look in the faces of our kids.

WE WILL CULTIVATE COMMUNITY by building welcoming, collaborative, flexibleuse spaces that enhance connections at Rowland Hall, as well as with local partners.

Imagine the ease of student collaboration across grades on a shared campus: Upper School students learning the rewards and skills of assisting younger learners, and Lower School students gaining self-esteem and insights from the attention of their older peers. Imagine also the campus serving as a community asset—a hub for connection, learning, and progress.

PRIORITY TWO

LEARNINGAUTHENTICDESIGN

Picture a new science center where original research and student-conceived projects take place in a fully equipped research lab, supplemented by flexible breakout spaces readily available for students to work independently, in teams, or in partnership with local professors and scientists.

Employers like me struggle to find the people we need. I don’t need a finance expert; frankly, I’d rather hire a flute major and teach them finance, because what I really need is someone with creative problem-solving skills. Most PreK–12 schools don’t teach that very well—that’s something you see in college retention stats. If Rowland Hall is a college prep school, let’s actually prepare kids for college and for what employers really value. That’s the real goal behind this campaign.

JEFF STOWELL, Middle School parent and campaign donor

WE WILL DESIGN AUTHENTIC LEARNING experiences by expanding opportunities for student-designed and -led projects that enable learners to develop as the problem-solvers, critical thinkers, communicators, and creators the world needs.

PRIORITY THREE

CURRICULUMREIMAGINE

WE WILL REIMAGINE CURRICULUM by dedicating space for enhanced programs in applied mathematics, engineering, technology, entrepreneurship, and environmental and research science.

SARAH LEHMAN, Chair of the Board of Trustees 2023–2026

Every year, the school asks its graduating seniors how they would improve the Rowland Hall education. These kids are savvy. They have a good handle on what they’ll be doing in college, and their requests track very closely what we’re making possible through this campaign: more experiences in highly relevant courses like computer science, robotics, and others. This school is all about giving students voice and agency, and their voices are coming through loud and clear. I’m proud to assure them we’re responding.

Envision a robotics hub with dedicated, technology-rich space for computer science programs and innovation courses and clubs, where projects and competitions run continuously, and where Rowland Hall students can explore their ideas for solving the world’s most pressing problems.

And now, it’s time.

AN EXTRAORDINARY LEGACY

What is new is the motivation, momentum, and urgency for pursuing these plans. As our world has changed and our vision has sharpened, what was once a good idea has become an absolute imperative.

THE IDEA OF A UNIFIED ROWLAND HALL is not new. The one-campus master plan was completed in 2007.

A ROWLANDUNIFIED HALL

This is not simply an investment in buildings. It is an investment in developing people the world needs. It’s urgent. It’s imperative. It’s possible.

To be clear, the effects of the campaign will be anything but incremental. This is not about the difference between an older space and a newer, more appealing one, but about enabling an entirely new level of capability and impact.

That’s why Rowland Hall is committed to doing all it takes to make this happen: To explore all prudent channels for financing this project. To reach out to our families for support. To engage new community supporters inspired by our vision. To relaunch the most ambitious fundraising campaign in our history. And to complete all this in time to establish our new campus by 2026.

Because the world awaits.

Mick Gee, Head of School

Thank you for considering support of our new campus. Your generosity will make possible a new vision for education— a vision of extraordinary teaching and learning that reimagines what the future looks like for our students and the world. Please join us in impacting generations to come.

As we undertake the most significant transformation in our history, we look to community leaders to join us in supporting the school’s programmatic and strategic priorities.

JOIN US

Rowland Hall’s aim remains constant: to inspire students who make a difference. We know we must send our students into their bright futures armed with enriching experiences that will make them confident, principled, engaged leaders. We must develop people the world needs.
