Fellow Tablers,
I present you with the third edition of the Inkundla Magazine 2023/24.
We find ourselves in the midst on winter, I think we can all agree on of the coldest the country have experienced. From heavy rains in the Western Cape and snow recently up on the reef.
For the cold reasons, this editions’ cover page represent our national alliance project, WinterKnights. Our vulnerable citizens have never required our support like this year to stay warm. Unfortunately, the energy crisis is adding to the problem off staying warm.
I am honoured and privileged to work through the reports and images submitted. The impact RTSA(us as tablers) are making through WinterKnights are priceless and leaves me with goosebumps and a proud tabler.
With over R7million reportedly raised year to date, I salute you.
Enjoy reading! Remember sharing is caring. Let’s celebrate and share the good work we are doing!

Well to be honest, it is scary. So many rules and tasks to do. Being someone who still has his whole life ahead of him, I’m frightened with life in, and outside of Table. However, I know for a fact, I can ask a fellow tabler for help, I can tell a fellow tabler, I need someone to just listen too, and I can tell a fellow tabler to give me guidance. Knowing that, that I have a family to rely on, comforts me. Being a tabler is a great achievement in life. I’ve had experience with talking to my Elders without hesitation, I’ve become more disciplined with my daily habits, and I’ve improved as a person. I’ve made many friends along the way from my first meeting, some are young, and some older than me. Table grooms young men into gentlemen, and for that, I’m proud to say that I’m finally a tabler. With our AGM done and new exec elected it was time for 136 to sit down and start planning our usual very busy year ahead.
But seeing that it was such a scorcher of a day in Pretoria, I let the gents get out of their formal wear and go cool off a bit in the pool to get those brains back in action.
Cooled off and drinks in hand we sat down for something that every chairman before me said, it will be short and run smoothly but never does, and yet I still uttered those words and jinxed us all.
With our new Secretary taking notes and adding the events on our new favorite app TimeTree, 136 began sorting our 20 plus projects for the year between table conferences , RTSA projects, Pretoria collective
projects and one of my top goals for the year some family friendly socials.
This year I was a very fortunate situation where every project that came up had a convener in seconds with 136 tablers chomping at the bit to put their hands up to convene each project. What impressed me even more was the fact that the newer tablers wanted to add their own spin to projects and bringing new projects for the table to Rock!
When all was said and done with our next AGM on the Calendar. 136 is ready for 2023 so watch out for what is come this year from 136 and who knows maybe we will throw in another few projects to the year.
YIT Chris Merts Chairman PTA 136At the start of June the East London 1 Clubhouse was abuzz with excitement as Border Tablers and guests from out of town gathered for the first Border Area CVC Conference of 2023. This event serves as the 1st quarterly meeting of the 2023/2024 Border Exec. The conference kicked off on Friday with a vibrant social gathering at the East London No.1 Clubhouse. Everyone enjoyed some top tier fellowship around the braai fire and new tablers got to meet old friends for the first time.
The weekend's main event took place on Saturday, bringing together Tablers from all over to engage in thoughtprovoking discussions. Tablers and speakers delivered captivating presentations, sharing their expertise, and shedding light on their respective Tables and portfolios. The meeting encompassed a range of topics, including revolution, leadership, and the future of Table in the Border Area.
While the men participated in the meeting, an equally stimulating experience awaited the ladies. They embarked on a fascinating art class, allowing them to explore their creative side and artistic talents. The ladies enjoyed some cocktails while being led through a painting experience by local artist Mary Dallas resulting in some beautiful aloe masterpieces for them to take home. The Aloe happens to be our Border Area logo!
As the weekend conference drew to a close, participants left with new ideas, expanded networks, and a renewed sense of purpose.
East London No.1 would like to thank all the Tablers and their families who made the trip to visit us on home soil.
Welkom 40 had a five rand project that was held at Sylvania Super Spar in Welkom. We had a lot of support from the community and collected food and non-perishable items to a value of about R4000. We would like to thank the community and Sylvania Super Spar for the support on this project.
In a remarkable display of community support, Round Table Welkom 40 recently hosted a highly successful charity golf day Saturday, June 10. The event not only brought together passionate golfers for a day of friendly competition, but it also raised funds to support the RoundTable Community Centre. None of this would have been possible without the remarkable generosity of our sponsors. We express our heartfelt appreciation to the sponsors who made this event an unforgettable success.
Welkom 40 had our Annul Winter Knights drive again in front of Ocean Basket in Welkom on Friday 2nd of June. We collected R2400 in cash and 12 Bags of old Clothes and Blankets.
As winter approaches and temperatures drop, many individuals and families in our community face the harsh reality of enduring the cold without adequate warmth. In response to this pressing need, the Winter Knights initiative has emerged as a shining beacon of hope. With a noble goal in mind, the project aims to collect blankets and
old Clothes from the community, bringing comfort and relief to those who need it most during the frigid months.
The impact of the Winter Knights initiative extends beyond providing physical warmth. It fosters a sense of community spirit and togetherness, strengthening the bonds between neighbours and creating a support network for those in need. The project serves as a reminder that even in the coldest of seasons, the warmth of human compassion can shine brightly.
Winter Knights stands as a testament to the power of community unity and compassion. By collecting blankets from the community, the project brings comfort and relief to those enduring the harsh winter cold. It reminds us that a small act of kindness, such as donating a blanket or old clothes, can have a profound impact on someone's life. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that no one in our community is left out in the cold during the winter months.
When we sat down in the beginning of the year to discuss our various projects and convenors, I immediately knew Winter Knights was the project I wanted to convene as I know what this project means to both me and the beneficiaries. The sense of feeling that overwhelms you when you see a smile on the faces during the hand-outs.
The collections started off a bit slow, so we had to think out of the box this year as we are all feeling the grunt as we are trying to find our feet coming out of the Covid pandemic.
We contacted our local Algoa Toyota Dealership as they are a registered partner for the Round Table Winter Knights project. Without any hesitation Mr William Whitefield ‘Algoa Toyota General Manager’ said we must come & see him. Upon chatting to Mr Whitefield, we realised there was major shortage of blankets for our project this year. Mr Whitefield then made a few calls, and we were called in to come & collect a total of 30 brand new blankets which they went and purchased for us to hand over to the homeless & less fortunate. Some of his staff members also assisted by collecting clothing & nonperishable foods for our Winter Knights hand-out.
We then decided to contact some of the schools in the area to see if we were able to collect some kiddies clothing as we knew there are plenty of younger children out on the streets in the Icey cold conditions. Algoa
Dr Whale from Herbert Hurd Primary School was very fast in getting back to us to say they admire what we are doing for the community & advised that her staff & pupils will do whatever they can in assisting us with the collection.A few days later we received a call from Dr Whale, who advised they had managed to collect quite a bit of clothing for our project this year.
By this point we had collected quite a lot of blankets, clothing, shoes, sanitary pads & non-perishable foods.
So we did it the 108 way & decided what better way to brave the cold, then to physically get cold….. We decided to host a Speedo-BraaiNight on 20th May, where we as 108 Members braved the Icey cold conditions & invited the public to a braai at our Club-house in Fernglen while we braai’d for them in our
speedo’s – All we asked for was the public bring more clothing & blankets for us to be able to give out to those in need – What a jol was had by everybody who attended.
While us men were focusing on our collection, The Legs (Wives/ partners) of Round Table Algoa 108 decided they would also like to do a collection of Sanitary Pads for the homeless woman on the streets. This was the turning point in the project where we quickly realised we had hit the nail-on-the-head with all the clothing and blankets received from
Now with our great collection done & dusted we realised this was going to be a bit of a mission to get all of these things out on the night of our hand-out.
One of our members then suggested that we should try to organise a truck for the hand-out which to our dismay actually happened. While we were busy having our monthly Project Meeting quick before the hand-out, ‘Vroom Vroom’, there this 8-Ton Cattle truck pulled in with one of our members behind the wheel. He was lucky enough to get the truck & diesel sponsored to us at no charge whatsoever from Joe Liddell at Lidco Livestock which was a lifesaver for us at the time.
We then packed the truck with +- R45 000 worth of clothing, sanitary pads, blankets and a HUGE pot of hot Samp & Beans for the hand-out on the streets of Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). We then all jumped aboard the truck at 9pm on 15th June & hit the streets towards Kabega Park looking for any vagrants hiding in any form of shelter they were able to find as the weather was quickly starting to turn cold & wet.
We then made our way down through to Newton Park where we managed to find quite a few people sleeping under trees, between buildings and even in cardboard boxes. We then managed to get into a few deep & dark corners down town in Central where the last of our stuff was then handed out to the homeless.
Needless to say, the smiles and gratefulness of these homeless people’s faces when they receive some attention, warm clothing, a blanket and some hot food is enough to shed a tear to any man.
I would like to thank every single member of Round Table Algoa 108 and their families for all the effort put into this amazing heartfelt project.
Also, a major thank you to each & every sponsorship who assisted us this year, without all of you this would not have been possible.
Secunda 231 has had the privilege of hosting their first Warmfees featuring Martin Bester and band as the main event. As we all know, Warmfees is a massive contribution towards the Winter Knights project and because of this event we were able to make a huge impact to our community with R212 000 in cash donations and 3280 blankets in collection, safe to say the day was a success especially with the help from our fellow tablers at Middleburg 126 and the gents from Bosveld area. To know that we as a community
can come together to make a #impactfulchange for those who need it most during these cold winter nights is an honour and makes me proud to be a part of the greatest organization in the world. The event was held at Laerskool Trichardt, majority of the funds will go towards the SAVF Secunda Child and Youth Care Centre as we are also in the works of trying to get them a minibus to ensure there is sufficient transportation for the children. Many of the blankets we have already given out to the orphanages and the
homeless, we are planning on giving out the rest to old age homes and to whoever is in dire need of it. We as Secunda 231 is unexplainably grateful for the help and contribution made by the community and other tables as well as the massive donation of R50 000 made by Jacaranda themselves. We are looking forward to next year’s Warmfees and to make it another lekker one.

in various activities alongside her peers. Sarah's daily experiences have been transformed, and she now has equal opportunities to learn, explore, and grow.

Bloemfontein 158
On Friday the 7th of April 2023, also known as Good Friday, Bloem 158 came together as tablers to make this day special to a few kids in our community.
Bloem 158 came together in numbers at Huis Enrico and huis Therapia on Friday with their wives and kids all taking part in the easter egg hunt held at the two respective houses.
We had a wonderful time with the kids, and the smiles on their faces made it all worthwhile. This once again shows how a little of one’s time can make big a difference in someone else’s life. We too often and to too easily give money and food because it does not take a lot of time, but in these kids’ lives our time is worth much more than any monetary item.
Round Table Bloemfontein 158 truly made an #impactfulchange in the lives of these young kids.

In a heartwarming act of kindness, Round Table Bloemfontein 158 recently made a significant donation to Kaylee, a student who was going through a tough time. Recognizing her circumstances, our table provided her with a much-needed fridge, a laptop, and essential food supplies.
the University who informed us that Kaylee was malnourished and in desperate need of help.
Moved by Kaylee's predicament, our table, stepped in to make a difference. Understanding the importance of having essential appliances and nutritious meals,
Kaylee is a third-year student at the University of the Free State. She had been going through a challenging period in her life. Struggling financially, she found it increasingly difficult to buy food and other necessities. Our table was approached by a nurse working at
we decided to donate a brandnew fridge, laptop and nutrient rich food to Kaylee. The donation allows her to store perishable food items, ensuring she can have fresh and healthy meals. This not only addresses her immediate need for sustenance but also enhances her overall well-being.
This act of compassion serves as a shining example of how tablers can come together to support those facing adversity. The donation to Kaylee showcases the power of empathy, generosity, and the profound impact that Round Table can have on someone's life.
By recognizing an individual's needs and taking action, Bloem 158 have made a significant impact on Kaylee's life. Their act of kindness not only provides immediate relief but also empowers Kaylee to pursue her dreams and create a brighter future for herself.

It is with great pleasure that I write this article, Round Table Bloemfontein 158 truly made an #impactfullchange in the lives of these children suffering from Autism.
Anton Botha, former tabler and current 41’ner of Bloem 158 and I received a call from a friend that is currently involved with Blaize academy, asking if we would be able to set some time aside to visit this house with him, and consider getting involved as Table.
We visited Blaize academy late in 2022 with no expectations of any need as this is an established institution, managed by qualified personnel with a passion for teaching and developing these kids.
We were taken on a tour through the facilities by a member of management so that we could get a better idea of what the challenges and their needs are, this was truly a heartfelt experience, and we immediately realized that the
children are taken good care of and are offered a safe environment where they can be educated.
Like most of these institutions, Blaize academy is a privately owned institution and do not receive any compensation from government, they purely rely on the income of the children’s school fees and contributions from parents and members of the community, and it was at this point that we realized that there is a definite need, and that Table might be able to assist or contribute in whatever way possible.
After our visit to Blaize academy, we went back to table, and we expressed our concerns and findings following our visit to the institution. We managed to collect some educational toys of great value that was donated by one of our tablers wife’s as well as about 30 duvets and pillows for these kids.
The contribution was well received by the management of Blaize academy,
and they were truly grateful for the donation and added that this will definitely contribute to the needs that they currently experience.
They are also actively working inhouse to try and set up some projects that will be able to provide them with some financial support to cover their running costs, and to allow them to improve the environment for these kids.
The management together with the teachers of Blaize academy are really putting in a lot of effort to better the lives of these children and to ensure that they get the best possible education at this institution. Round table Bloemfontein 158 are proud to be associated with this institution and we will be doing a follow up visit soon to spend some time with the kids and offer our assistance were needed.

As is our tradition in Bloemfontein, Round table Bloem 158 hosted our annual Golf Day on the 24th of March 2023 at Bloemfontein golf club.
We are very pleased to announce that this was a huge success and just a joyful day out on the golf course.
It started of a bit worrying, as Bloem weather decided to give us a very overcast morning with some of the August winds also making a turn in the mother city, luckily for us, this quickly changed, and the day turned great and offered us the perfect golfing conditions.
We were very privileged to have Oranje Toyota and Lexus as our main sponsor of the day and Opulentia financial services and Transinsure Brokers as our Co-sponsor on the day, the three Bloemfontein based businesses opened their hearts to charity and they both contributed greatly to the success of this day.
We also had great support from other businesses in Bloemfontein that supported the day by means of participating in the day, sponsoring four balls, wet holes, and prizes that we handed out at our prize giving.
Overall, the day was a huge success and gave us a great start to the
year that we can put back into our community to ultimately make an #IMPACTFULLCHANGE.

When I was asked to write an article about my life as a tabler, my first reaction was – where does one start? Table has been a part of my life so long, that is has become a part of my own identity.
In 2010, I was invited to a Roundtable Meeting by Frans Henning (now also 41er), and it has been a lifechanging journey.
Table, and especially Roundtable Bloemfontein 25, taught me very important life, business and all manner of other lessons that I apply in my everyday life, personally and in a business environment. The friendships (brotherhood) that have been built with fellow tablers over the years will always have a very special place in my heart.
In 2013, I had the privilege to be Chairman of Roundtable Bloem 25 which was an immense honour and challenged me to grow in a personal capacity. In my table career, I was also the winner of the “prestigious” Night Owl Trophy 9 times – a sign of appreciation i.r.o. my endurance on social events which I thoroughly enjoyed!
Roundtable also afforded me the opportunity to travel and give back to the community, whilst having fun. Being able to be involved in projects where we really made a difference in people’s lives, makes a big difference in how you view the world and yourself.
I will always treasure the memories of projects/functions and events, as
well as the ultimate annual party of the year – ARTSA.
Lastly, I want to encourage every current, and future, tabler to start, continue and endure their journey at Roundtable with motivation, pride and empathy, to utilise the opportunities provided by this esteemed organisation to travel, make friends and ultimately make a difference … Adopt, Adapt, Improve. Before you realise it, your journey will have reached its’ end and the leisurely table of the 41’ers now awaits …

When I began my journey as a Tabler, one of the key projects that stood out every year was Winter Knights. Coming from a family where multiple members were Tablers themselves, Winter Knights was always a project that was touched on in multiple conversations as well as being present and acknowledged within the village of Kenton.
This being the biggest project I have run to date, my mission was to initially identify what the common traits were surrounding the project, the general logistics and operations pertaining to it and focusing on the key areas which would make the largest impact. The main contributions within our area,
that being food, were arranged alongside conversations held with our local and neighboring Spar and SaveMor outlets, situated in Kenton on Sea and Alexandria. Mr Craig Theunissen and Mr Christo Pienaar were instrumental in allowing Alex/Kenton 210 to conduct the collections planned for the 2 towns and our thanks go out to them for their continued support.
Johnston, who instrumental in ensuring that the collections were distributed to those truly in need.
I would like to thank my fellow Tablers for assisting me with carrying out a project, which creates such a large impact within our community. Your continued support and tenacious drive have and continue to push each individual as well as the Table as a whole towards greater heights and furthermore creating a #impactfulchange.

YIT Michael de WinnaarEast London No.1 recently organized a delightful Kid's Zone at the annual Motor Mech Show!
Round Table 1 left no stone unturned in their efforts to ensure an unforgettable experience for the young visitors attending the Motor Mech Show. The Kid's Zone became a vibrant hub of laughter and excitement as children's faces lit up with joy. The club organized face painting stations, where talented artists transformed little ones into their favourite superheroes, animals, and characters, allowing their imaginations to soar.
Moreover, the enticing aroma of cotton candy and popcorn filled the air, enticing both kids and adults
alike. The delectable treats were a hit, with attendees savouring the sweet flavours as they explored the rest of the event. The Kid's Zone also featured an array of thrilling rides that took children on exciting journeys, adding an extra dose of adrenaline to the already exhilarating day.
Highlighting the festivities was the presence of a charming jumping castle, where kids bounced and giggled to their heart's content. The inflatable castle provided endless entertainment, allowing children to channel their boundless energy.
Beyond the delightful ambiance and joyful atmosphere, the Round Table No.1 Kid's Zone had a more profound
purpose: fundraising for important charitable initiatives. Every moment of laughter and every Rand spent on rides or treats contributed to supporting those in need within the community.
As we reflect on the Kid's Zone at the Motor Mech Show, let us be reminded of the significance of coming together for a common cause. It is through such collective efforts that we can make the world a better place, one smile, one ride, and one act of kindness at a time.

Over the past four weeks, the members of Round Table Carletonville50 and their friends of table have been actively involved in their Annual Winter Knights project, which aims to provide essential support to those in need within Carletonville, surrounding townships, and Welverdiend. Through the distribution of soap and bread at various locations, the Round Table Carletonville50 has made a significant impact on the lives of many individuals, demonstrating their commitment to uplifting the community.
Led by the dedicated Chairman and members of Round Table Carletonville50, the project's main focus has been the distribution of soup (approximately 600 litres) accompanied by loaves of bread (over 150 loaves). Every Thursday, the team has tirelessly set out to deliver these much-needed provisions to individuals struggling to meet their basic needs. The
project has successfully reached a substantial number of people, extending a helping hand during the challenging winter season.
During the course of this initiative, Carletonville50 members have witnessed firsthand the heartbreaking sight of ordinary people living on the streets. However, they consider it an absolute privilege to be able to contribute positively to their lives. Through their efforts, the team has exemplified the spirit of compassion and solidarity, bringing hope to those who need it the most.
Carletonville50 has not undertaken this project alone. Friends of the organization have eagerly joined them every Thursday night to participate in the distribution efforts. This collaboration has amplified the impact of their work, fostering a sense of unity within the community. This week's upcoming event promises to be even more special, with local preschool teachers and staff attending
alongside the Carletonville50 members. The involvement of local media will further raise awareness about the project, inspiring others to contribute and make a difference.
Us from Carletonville50 would lie to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the sponsors who have supported this project thus far. Their assistance has been invaluable in ensuring the success of the Annual Winter Knights project. The team acknowledges that each sponsor has played a vital role in improving the lives of the less fortunate and expresses their sincere appreciation for the positive impact they have made.
Round Table Carletonville50's Annual Winter Knights project has demonstrated the power of community engagement and the importance of collective action in addressing social challenges.

Our travel companion quickly adapts, using the uncomfortable seat as a makeshift pillow and snoring away without a care in the world. Passengers exchange amused glances as he manages to fall asleep within seconds, undeterred by the twists and turns of the road. We secretly wonder if he's mastered the art of sleeping with eyes wide open.

Greetings, fellow Round Table enthusiasts! Gather around as I regale you with the uproarious tale of my recent escapade at the Italian Annual General Meeting (AGM). Joined by the infamous Louis "the fly" Janneke from Round Table Carletonville 50, I embarked on an unforgettable adventure filled with laughter, cultural misadventures, and
an overwhelming abundance of good food and wine. Brace yourselves for a delightful and humorous account of our time in the enchanting land of Italy!
Our journey commenced on May 30, 2023, departing from the illustrious OR Tambo International airport. The flight, in what some affectionately
call "Cattle class," proved to be tolerable, except for my unfortunate neighbour, a petite lady who might argue otherwise. However, let's not dwell on the cramped conditions; after all, it's the company that matters, right?
Arriving in Rome on May 31, we hopped on a train to Florence, accompanied by Louis, our trusty guide and connoisseur of cultural mishaps. His rendition of an Afrikaans-accented English tour commentary was, without a doubt, the most comically atrocious I have ever heard. Despite getting lost and unintentionally hiking what felt like 500 kilometres, we found solace in the comforting embrace of beers along the way. Florence, with its captivating history and mouthwatering street food, proved to be a city worth getting lost in.
Our train journey continued, leading us to the charming town of San Miniato. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Round Table San Miniato Fucecchio76 and an extraordinary array of individuals hailing from 17 different countries. The adventure was just beginning! As fortune would have it, my birthday fell on that very night, and we celebrated it with gusto at the stroke of midnight. The consequences of revelry were undoubtedly felt the next morning—let's leave it at that, shall we?
The morning of June 1st was dedicated to a guided tour of an ar-san company, where we had the privilege of witnessing the creation of Italian haute couture products. It was an eye-opening experience, complemented by an extravagant buffet lunch that left us in awe. In the afternoon, we indulged in a Dinner & Disco extravaganza at 'La Loggia Dei Medici Dinner' by the pool, followed by an energetic night of dancing in a Tuscan countryside setting. The Italians sure know how to throw a party!
On June 2nd, we explored the breathtaking Fucecchio Marshes
nature reserve, boasting Italy's largest inland marshland. Amidst the diverse flora and fauna, we enjoyed a leisurely day immersed in nature, complete with a delicious barbecue lunch accompanied by copious amounts of beer and wine. The tranquility of the marshes provided the perfect balance to our exuberant evenings.
And then, the grand finale arrived—the AGM meeting and Gala Dinner at the esteemed Golf Club 'Bellosguardo,' situated in the birthplace of the genius Leonardo Da Vinci. It was a momentous occasion filled with pride and admiration
for the Round Table movement, celebrated amidst the backdrop of Leonardo's extraordinary legacy.
As I reflect upon the entirety of this fantastic adventure, I cannot emphasize enough the incredible hospitality of Round Table Italy and the remarkable efforts of Round Table San Miniato Fucecchio 76. The pretour was a gastronomic and cultural delight, with sumptuous food, exquisite wines, and a genuinely unforgettable experience. Despite being only three years old, this table has already displayed exceptional hosting skills that left us in awe.

A critical role within Table and learning a bit more about the man behind it as well as his reasons on why he joined Round Table
Name: Jonathan Ross
Occupation: Sales Executive
Age: 28
Role within Table: Secretary/Treasurer
As secretary of Gonubie 182 I draw up the agendas for our bi-monthly meetings as well as minute these meetings. I add important dates to the calendar to remind members of any upcoming events. I also provide our table with correspondence from Border area as well as any other tables or areas that make contact with me. As treasurer of Gonubie 182 I oversee the Table's financial administration, this includes financial reporting, record-keeping, and managing incoming and outgoing funds. Lastly I am responsible for reminding our members what our financial goals are and encouraging discussions on how to reach these goals.
We actually had this discussion not too long ago at one of our meetings and I think my answer surprised some people but I honestly joined Round Table for the fellowship and time spent with friends, the reason I stayed however is seeing how much good I can do with the support of this organisation and the difference we can make in our communities as a team and as a Table.
I was inducted in March 2021 so I have enjoyed just over 2 years of being a Gonubie 182 member.
There have been an abundance of great memories but if I had to choose 1 it would be the day I was inducted, I was fortunate enough to be inducted by the president of Round Table Southern Africa.
I feel that in addition to the fellowship with friends and charity work we do, Round Table is a great platform to not only grow but also expand one's professional relationships.

In my exhilarating experience at the Association of Round Table Southern Africa (ARTSA), not only did I proudly clinch the yellow shirt, but I also embarked on a wonderful journey filled with friendship, culinary delights, and the power of teamwork. From the moment we set off on our adventure to the event, to participating in the Portuguese food table, the collaborative efforts of our SNOFTS members made it an unforgettable experience.
As we gathered for ARTSA, our SNOFTS member, Mike, stepped up to the challenge of running and managing the food table. With his expertise and passion, he guided us through the culinary journey, coordinating our efforts and ensuring a delightful gastronomic experience for all. As fellow members, we eagerly supported Mike, offering
our assistance wherever possible, to contribute to the success of the food table.
Together, we worked as a team, embracing the tasks at hand. From preparing the Portuguese delicacies to setting up an inviting display, each member played a crucial role in bringing the flavours and traditions of Portugal to life. Our collective efforts infused the food table with a sense of camaraderie and shared accomplishment.
Beyond the food table, this spirit of teamwork resonated throughout our entire ARTSA experience. We collaborated on various activities, bonded during round table discussions, and provided support to one another throughout the event. The synergy within our SNOFTS group exemplified the power of unity and demonstrated how
working together can create lasting memories.
My first ARTSA was a remarkable journey, where the friendships we forged, the culinary delights we shared, and the collective efforts we invested made it an extraordinary experience. From Mike's leadership at the food table to the invaluable contributions of each SNOFTS member, the sense of teamwork and collaboration amplified the joy and fulfilment of our participation in ARTSA.
As I proudly wear my yellow shirt cap, I carry with me the memories of not only my personal achievement but also the bonds forged through shared experiences and the remarkable teamwork displayed at the ARTSA food table.
YIT M-CEE SmithA mister, WINSTON CHURCHILL, described success as not final and failure is not fatal, but rather that it is the courage to continue. In my table career I have also found this to be true much like traffic lights managing the flow of traffic and believe me I’ve received green lights, move with caution, and stop lights.
ROUND TABLE’s traffic light is managing the flow of my life, goals and dreams and has done so for the last 8 years. With many green lights most of them in succession and a few “move with caution lights” to halter my speed and make sure I move in the right direction. But mostly stop lights, there where I needed to change my direction, perception and to grow because without failure we cannot grow.
Success has different meanings for all of us and can be defined as such. Success is defined for me as followsthe promotion and recognition of myself as myself, for achieving the goals that are in my reach and are reachable with my specific talents and gifts. The BICEP - the muscle for show, our men have been conditioned from a young age to show our muscles and flex our biceps as a promotion of our man hood. It is a big bulky muscle and if you aren’t careful in how big it becomes, one has the risk of not even wiping your own ass. BUT the TRICEP - the working man muscle, the one not on show, the one that does all the heavy lifting and puts the food on the table and is the one I’ve always wanted to live by “less impressed and more involved”- Matthew McConaughey. It is easy to do a few things for show, it looks important and feels important and sometimes taste important, but like a Afrikaans saying goes “dit het niks met die prys van eiers te doen nie”.
We are here to build (develop) FELLOWSHIP (friendship) between young men, not flex our “man hood”. We are here to foster RESPONSIBLE citizenship, not promote negativity. To offer an EXCELLENT medium of service to our community, not half heartily in service. This is what table is for me and how I strive to table, to be recognised and appreciated for me being me and living my fullest for TABLE is one of my greatest achievements I’ve received. For that and all it has brought to my life, goals and dreams, I thank this wonderful organisation.
A few important steps to success and greatness. Know yourself, start without hesitation, be small goal driven first, set long term goals, focus on what you want to achieve and not be haltered by limitations, track your progress, set metrics, and learn for successful cases first, then innovate, FIND A COACH.
In closing - fear kills more dreams than failure ever will.
In the spirit of camaraderie and friendship, Round Table Boksburg 17 and Potchefstroom 47 have been building strong relationships through a series of exciting raids. These encounters have not only strengthened the bond between the two tables but have also fostered a sense of unity within the Round Table community.
The first encounter took place when the gentlemen from Boksburg 17 paid a visit to Potchefstroom 47 for a memorable raid. Arriving in style with members from three different tables, including Boksburg 17 Chairman, Edenvale 63, and Jukskei 217, the night was filled with anticipation and excitement. For the chairman of Potchefstroom 47, it was an especially significant occasion as it marked his first time leading a meeting.
The raid from Boksburg 17 laid the groundwork for Potchefstroom 47 to reciprocate the visit and raid their friends in Boksburg. However, this event turned out to be nothing short of monumental. The aim of the night was to have a mass raid, and that goal was certainly achieved. With a staggering attendance of 42
members from 10 tables, including Potchefstroom 47 and Boksburg 17, the evening was a true testament to the spirit of Round Table.
What made this raid even more remarkable was the fact that the participating tables represented three different areas, namely STNOFS, Mpumalanga, and Gauteng. This gathering showcased the diversity and inclusivity of the Round Table community, bringing together members from various regions under one roof.
The raid provided a platform for members to network, exchange ideas, and build lasting friendships. The atmosphere was electric, filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a shared sense of purpose. It was a testament to the values upheld by Round Table: fellowship, personal growth, and community service.
Through these raids, Round Table Boksburg 17 and Potchefstroom 47 have demonstrated the power of collaboration and the strength of the Round Table network. These encounters have not only brought joy and excitement to the members involved but have also created a
sense of unity and solidarity within the broader Round Table community. The success of these raids would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the organizing committees, volunteers, and the unwavering support of the participating tables. Their commitment to fostering a spirit of brotherhood and goodwill is truly commendable.
As Round Table Boksburg 17 and Potchefstroom 47 continue to strengthen their relationship, they serve as shining examples of the values and principles that define the Round Table organization. Through their raids and shared experiences, they are building bridges, creating lifelong memories, and making a positive impact on their respective communities.
The Round Table community eagerly awaits the next chapter in the Boksburg 17 and Potchefstroom 47 raid saga, as these two tables continue to forge strong bonds and inspire others with their spirit of camaraderie.
For 22 incredible days, I embarked on a journey across Europe, exploring the rich tapestry of cultures, traditions, and landscapes that make this continent so captivating. My itinerary took me to the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Belgium, each offering a unique and unforgettable experience.
Throughout my trip, I had the privilege of being hosted by 12 different Round Table clubs, who welcomed me with open arms and genuine warmth. These clubs became my home away from home, providing me with a glimpse into their local customs, traditions, and way of life. From the moment I stepped foot in each new city, I was enveloped by a sense of camaraderie and fellowship.
The connections I made during my journey are friendships that will last a lifetime. Whether it was sharing a meal, engaging in meaningful conversations, or embarking on exciting adventures together, the bonds we formed transcended borders and created a sense of belonging. These newfound friends became an integral part of my European experience, enriching it with laughter, shared memories, and a deeper understanding of the world around me.
As I reflect on my time in Europe, I am grateful for the myriad of experiences I had the opportunity to indulge in. From strolling along the picturesque canals of Amsterdam, marveling at the historic architecture in Stockholm, immersing myself in the vibrant energy of Berlin, and savoring the culinary delights in Vienna, each destination left an indelible mark on my heart.
Exploring the enchanting cities, experiencing the local traditions, and soaking in the breathtaking landscapes broadened my horizons and deepened my appreciation for the beauty of diversity. Europe truly is a tapestry of cultures, seamlessly woven together to create a vibrant mosaic.
As I bid farewell to the European continent, I carry with me cherished memories, newfound knowledge, and a global network of friends. My journey has taught me the power of human connection, the importance of embracing different perspectives, and the joy that comes from immersing oneself in new experiences.
While my time in Europe may have come to an end, the impact it has had on my life will endure. The friendships forged, the lessons learned, and the memories created will forever hold a special place in my heart. I am grateful for the opportunity to have explored this remarkable part of the world and look forward to continuing my journey of growth, understanding, and friendship within the Round Table community.
Thanks from the depth of my heart to everyone who made my trip amazing!

”Daar K@K ‘n Haas!”
So, funny story. I left Praha, Czech Republic late on a Friday long weekend afternoon. I happened to be on a bus, heading for Vienna in Austria, and I had no idea where I was going to sleep. Then I went off to Tabler World, which some people still can’t access, and looked up Vienna. I stumbled upon Mr. Borris, The Pink Panther. Per my usual nosy messages, I asked him for a quick beer and possible home hosting, thinking the obvious would happen. He then replied with a quick message, that they had a tour on that weekend, and following the week as well. Nevertheless, he had a bed for me. Upon arrival the following morning at the bus stop, I was greeted by my old friend! Chatting and encountering like old friends. Then to my question that followed, I was SHOCKED! “What tour is going on?” Just like the pinnacle of tours all over the world… but in a calmer answer was I responded to. With my luck, and good timing I had the privilege to extend my one day, into a three day stop before heading onwards again. Alongside myself, I was joined by three planned members from ARTSA NNC Area to attend the tour. We had a blast and was so thankful for the Austrian experience and hospitality. We went on such an amazing tour through Vienna city center and surrounding areas. We even went to a theme park where I was pale as a ghost after half of the carnival’s beer & pizza was inside me, then shaking me like a cocktail. Nonetheless, the views from a world record holder carousel were even more exceptional. The landscape and scene from above the city will always be one to cherish. There was even time for what the Europeans call a BBQ, which is meat cooked very fast on a gas heater. Still, the beers were flowing, and the conversations found their way through the room, with RSA being a talking point. The fact that we were all so in tune, and that I was welcomed so easily was truly remarkable of this organization. I found and made friends across the world, and I had to travel across the world to meet people from my own country. This made my eyes open, to how small and big we are. I will forever remember my first time in Europe, as a youngster joining the tour, remembering what it was like to take all that beauty and culture in at one moment.
On the 19th of May 2023, the Potchefstroom Country Club was bathed in warm sunshine and brimming with excitement as golf enthusiasts from near and far gathered for a delightful day on the greens. From closest to the pin challenges that demanded accuracy to longest drive contests that showcased raw power, and even the longest day competition that tested endurance, every golfer had an opportunity to shine and revel in the spirit of healthy competition. These competitions
not only injected a healthy dose of friendly rivalry but also heightened the overall atmosphere of the event, filling the air with excitement and anticipation.
One standout feature of the Round Table stall was the unforgettable laughter and camaraderie shared among players. Before teeing off, golfers gathered at the stall, where they exchanged jokes, shared stories, and indulged in a drink or two, including some shots of Obs, creating a jovial and relaxed atmosphere that set the tone for the day's festivities.
As the day drew to a close, the contented smiles on the faces of the golfers served as evidence of a day well spent. The prize-giving ceremony was a highlight, as numerous prizes were awarded to participants, ensuring that every golfer who took part walked away with at least one gift to commemorate their participation and achievements. The generosity of donations, 4 ball sales, sponsorships, and the spirited auction that took place throughout the day resulted in substantial funds being raised to benefit the community of Potchefstroom.
The success of the Round Table
Potchefstroom annual golf event was not just measured in the funds raised but also in the sense of unity and community spirit that permeated the entire day. The organizers, sponsors, and volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the event a success should be commended for their dedication and hard work. The Round Table Potchefstroom annual golf event showcased the power of sport, camaraderie, and philanthropy coming together to create a day of joy, unity, and positive change.
Tales from the day written by Divan Kotze
I was tending to matters of a work nature on Tuesday morning, when I was alluded to the fact that my weekly scheduled Pool League was postponed due to players that could not play. Just as I was confirming the new arrangements Wouter Dreyer the PRO council member from Potchefstroom 47 messages me and asked if I would like to join the council members from Potchefstroom 47, Andries Du Plessis and Divan Kotze along with Wouter himself to go on a raid to Boksburg 17. By being a pipeliner at table I was very keen on going on this raid.
So off we went, leaving Potch at around 17:00 and having a great time. We got to the Boksburg 17 table and joined them with their raid meeting. The guys from Boksburg 17 put on a hell of a meeting and with all the tables represented it was great fun. We learnt a lot from the other tables and got great new ideas for fundraising. The fellowship amongst the tables and guys was insane.
Afterwards the guys went around sharing good times, pins and coins, having drinks and talking shop. The raiding started surprisingly early with the blokes from Middleburg starting during business, but we waited to the end of the meeting. Now here's where I started my journey ….
Boksburg 17 has a tradition where there is a trophy presented every month to a member called “The dom d@@s of The Month” , it is a Donkey …
When I sneaked into the club's room I saw the aforementioned Donkey in the Trophy case, the clubhouse convener, conveniently the holder of the trophy lost it in the trophy case? But I grabbed the donkey and stashed it in the car.
That night when I was dropped off, I grabbed the donkey out of the car. The adventures of the donkey and I started the next morning, being a supposedly busy guy, the donkey went to work with me.
Stop number one, JB Marks Local Municipality Council chamber, the Donkey and I posed for a photo, there were upon many of my colleagues that had questions and comments, the guys were interested in what the story was behind the Donkey. The interest in the donkey and Round Table was quite inspiring.
Stop number two was NTT Volkswagen Potchefstroom where I introduced the Donkey to Ruan Beukes, a friend of table. The next stop was the Round Table Potchefstroom 47 clubhouse, The Flagship, we stopped for a quick selfie and then moved on home. The last few stops were at my pool club Bert's Pub And Gril and later that night the NWPA pool venue in Klerksdorp.
My adventures to Boksburg 17 and around Potchefstroom was a great example of the fellowship, spirit and youthfulness. It was eye opening and even more inspiring for me as an individual that what we as table do and represent in our country.

As a proud member of Potchefstroom 47, I had the incredible privilege of attending the annual Numbers Meeting in Europe. This meeting brought together Round Table clubs from nine different countries, all sharing the distinguished number "47." It was a journey that took us to the beautiful city of Karlstad, Sweden, from the 12th to the 14th of May 2023.
From the moment we arrived in Karlstad, we were welcomed with open arms and genuine warmth. The hospitality extended by our European counterparts was heartwarming, creating an instant sense of camaraderie.
The Numbers Meeting was a melting pot of ideas, experiences, and inspiration. It was incredible to witness the diverse approaches to community service and hear about the impactful projects being undertaken by clubs from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, and South Africa.
Beyond the formalities, we had the opportunity to explore the enchanting city of Karlstad and immerse ourselves in Swedish culture. The charming streets, picturesque landscapes, and rich history made for a truly unforgettable experience. Sharing these adventures with fellow Round Table members from around the world deepened our connections and created lasting friendships.
The Numbers Meeting not only reaffirmed the importance of international collaboration but also reminded us of the broader Round Table family that extends beyond our local chapter. It was a humbling experience to witness the collective power of like-minded individuals coming together to make a difference. The memories we created, the knowledge we gained, and the friendships we forged will forever hold a special place in my heart. I returned to Potchefstroom with a renewed sense of purpose and a deepened commitment to making a positive impact within our local community.
The Numbers Meeting in Karlstad, Sweden, will forever be a cherished chapter in my Round Table journey. It has reinforced the belief that together, we can achieve great things, transcending borders and differences to create a brighter future for all. I am grateful for this extraordinary opportunity and look forward to continuing our collective journey of service and fellowship as we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

From 10 – 24 February 2023 an enthusiastic team from Zienderogen Foundantion worked really hard. During the 4th edition of the project, in cooperation with KOOPMAN OPTIEK, ROUND TABLE BETHLEHEM 60, MASECHABA and MALUTI HOOGLAND SCHOOL, the following occurred:
• 1 198 eye measurements were carried out. In total, 263 glasses were fitted, 220 ready-made reading glasses were distributed to the community as well as 55 sunglasses that was handed out.
• It was very special to see that several children and adults were still happily wearing the glasses they had received during previous year’s projects.
• Despite the fact some of the frames had clearly become too small or the glasses were fastened together with glue and tape.
• What we offered the community is something we are very proud of and we hope to have a long-standing relationship with all the above involved parties and to change many more eye impairments and brighten a day a little bit.
• Round Table Bethlehem 60 with ZIENDEROGEN FOUNDATION is now aiming to assist the community to see if any eye surgery can be arranged for some of the community members, for those with little to no eye sight.
By RüAN KOKOn the 4th of March 2023, Round Table Bethlehem 60 decided to lodge a project “Run 4 Change” to help and support a local 13-year-old boy, Dian Van Zyl, who was recently diagnosed with BURKITT LYMPHOMA, a rare cancer.
Round Table’s own, AIDAN SHIELDS, decided to run the yearly SURRENDER HILL MARATHON, which is a distance of 42.2km in total.
We decided to get the local community, businesses and some of our overseas table friends involve to support the project. The aim was to donate R20 per/km or alternatively any donation in order to support Dian financially.
As always, everyone took hands and supported our table incredibly well and we managed to raise quite a bit of money for Dian and his parents to cover some of his expenses, which was adding up rapidly.
The whole of Bethlehem 60 as well as the wife’s and 41’s were there to support the great initiative and to support Aidan to reach his goal and make a difference in someone else’s life. We all had an amazing water point where we fellowshipped and supported this amazing project which we attend to every year.
We are proud to be part of Round Table and are incredibly blessed with all the support we receive.
The evening was filled with Tables, Wife’s and some amazing 41’s, who attended the Induction. We also had the privilege to have our Area-Chairman and his wife, PG & Lucie Grove with us the night.
Our Master of Ceremonies was our very own AIDAN SHIELDS, who stepped up and made the night very special and interesting for all our attendees.
We started the night off by thanking RUDI “SKER” VAN VUUREN, for all his years in Table, his advice, contributions, jokes and knowledge about Table will last a very long time and will forever have a big Impact in and on Round Table Bethlehem 60, Free State Round Table as well as our community. You are amazing.
We had the privilege to Induct a new Tabler in Bethlehem in the form of JEAN-PIERRE “TJOEPI” DU PLESSIS. The induction was done by our own Free State Chairman, Mr PG Gove, which meant a lot for the Tabler and for us as a Table.
We also had the privilege to thank our Outgoing Chairman, RIAAN “SHANY” JOUBERT for all his work and input over the years and is honoured to have him for 1 more year as a honorary member of Bethlehem 60. The wellknown walking stick was handed over to Mr Joubert, just for the extra support.
The night was topped off by Inducting our new CHAIRMAN for 2023, Rüan “Cheetah” Kok, who will take the lead for Bethlehem 60 this year. He further announced his council that will support him throughout the year with, AIDAN SHIELDS as his Vice-Chairman and the rest of the Tablers standing firm behind them.
By RüAN KOKThis year’s first Weskoppies dance was a big success with most of the 200 patients dancing, partying and overall just enjoying the evening. Every few minutes there is a small dance competition where the winner/winners receive a big chocolate as a prize. All of them go do their utmost best on the dance floor for a shot at the grand prize.
Although it may not seem like a big thing, these types of events play a big role in these people’s lives. Events like these serve as a bridge and a way back into everyday life and is an essential connection to our society. The dance also serves as a small window of escape from their everyday stressors and past events. It also helps the O.T.’s (occupational therapists). Days after the event the patients experience a calmer state of mind aiding communication between patient and O.T.
We at Round Table 136 look forward to our next visit at Weskoppies.
Concluding a wonderful Mauritian AGM, our very own Round Table
South Cape Area IPC and Constitutional Adviser, Wentzel Stewart and his family, came home with only wonderful tales of fellowship, fun and new friendships.
We thank you for representing the South Cape on the international stage.

My first Euro meeting outside South Africa. I attended the South Africa one in 2019 in Mossel Bay and that was already an eye opener. The 2023 Euro meeting was held in Regensburg Germany, and I must say Regensburg did not disappoint. I had to do a lot of travelling to get to Regensburg and back, in total I was on 6 different airplanes and 2 trains.
I landed in Munich and from there a took a train to Regensburg, it took me about an hour from Munich to Regensburg by train. What a beautiful city of Regensburg, the locals called it little Italy the city with a soul. I arrived there the Friday afternoon and my home host collected me from the train station, and we went to registrations in a local pub in the heart of Regensburg. The local pub belonged to a 41er from Regensburg, and they have booked out the pub for the whole weekend for the euro meeting. Arrived there I got my first cold beer for the weekend and definitely not the last.
The Friday night we had a party at a local night club where we dressed up representing our countries and each table got a chance to perform a song from their country. We partied till late. Saturday morning was an early rise, and we did a tour of the town. We were divided into teams with question about the town and we had to go and find answer in the town. What a nice way to explore the town. The afternoon we had leisure time of our own and everybody took a nap to recover for the big party Saturday night.
The Saturday night party was held at a famous night club in Regensburg, we all arrived dressed up for the party and man what a party, delicious food, cold beer, and we danced till morning hours. Sunday morning was time to say goodbye and with all Euro meetings the famous tradition of the men’s meeting. All the different tables bring their famous drink from their country and the host table must drink shots from every drink. That all the Regensburg men took a nap after that. What an unbelievable experience for me and the best thing was all the new friends and family I made over the weekend. Goodbye Regensburg thanks for all the memories.

How has being apart of Table helped or benefited you:
Being part of Table has afforded me the opportunity to be part of a Family that you can also count on to be there for you in the good and bad times. It has also provided me with the opportunity to grow as an individual. From being nervous, speaking in front of many people, I am now able to run a meeting confidently.
What is your fondest memory in Table:
Being in Round Table now for over 5 years, there are many fond memories and difficult to single out one. But what does come to mind immediately, is our Angel Outreach Annual Christmas Party held at Gonubie's Ski Boat Club each year. We make breakfast for 100 children, thereafter playing various games with them for entertainment and then having Father Christmas give them their gifts. The smile on their faces, lights up my world and brings tears to my eyes knowing we as individuals are able to bring light to their life!
Is Round Table family oriented:
Round Table is very much Family oriented. At Gonubie we always say 'Family, Work, then Table'. I know my fellow Tablers are always one phone call away. Whether it be to talk, get together or simply just to check in. We are a close bunch of men, and we hang out a lot together because we see each other as 'Brothers'.
What are your goals within Table:
Currently, I am Border Area Vice Chairman, and I aim to be Area Chairman next year with the support of my Tablers. My goal is run a successful year this year and next year, that I can look back afterwards and say 'I have made an impactful change' and know I have made a success of it!
What and when is your next project or event:
My next project is our annual Winter Knights collection. On 30 June, we will be at The Lookout (Old Selbornian Club) to do a collection, and I will doing Live Music there to entertain the public. R20 gets you entrance or if you bring some clothes or blankets, you will get free entry. Please feel free to join us, it starts at 6pm!
I recently had the privilege of attending the Round Table Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Germany. It was an exhilarating journey filled with new experiences, cultural exploration, and meaningful connections. In this article, I will share the highlights of each day, from the moment I arrived in Frankfurt to the grand finale at the AGM in Dortmund.
Day 1: Frankfurt - A Warm Welcome and First German Beer: Upon landing in Frankfurt, I was warmly greeted by Asad Mirza from Round Table 40. He not only ensured my smooth arrival but also introduced me to the rich German beer culture, as we shared our first beer together. It set the tone for an exciting adventure ahead.
Day 2: Bad Homberg - Exploring Castles and Parks: The second day took us to Bad Homberg, where I marvelled at the beauty of a castle and its picturesque surroundings. Exploring the castle's history and wandering through the charming parks provided a delightful break from the bustling city life.
Day 3: Idstein - Unspoiled Beauty and a Table Meeting: Idstein welcomed me with its untouched beauty, preserved despite the ravages of war. Christoph Richter from Round Table 274 graciously hosted me in this charming town. Joining their table for a meeting allowed me to experience the camaraderie and shared goals that Round Table fosters.
Day 4: Cologne - Rich History and Vibrant Company: Cologne, a city steeped in history, embraced us with open arms. Martin Springfield from Round Table 11 guided us through the city, and as we indulged in more beer, we met some fascinating individuals, including South Africans who added a unique cultural dimension to the experience.
Day 5: Dusseldorf - Beer Contest and River Cruise: In Dusseldorf, the quest for the best beer took centre stage. We engaged in a friendly competition to determine whose beer reigned supreme. Later, we enjoyed a relaxing boat ride on the iconic Rhine River, immersing ourselves in the breath-taking scenery.
Day 6: Essen - A Glimpse into Mining History: Essen, a prominent mining town, allowed us to delve into its rich industrial heritage. We ventured into a coal mine, gaining a deeper appreciation for the region's history and its impact on the community. The day ended on a high note with a visit to a bar atop the shaft tower, offering panoramic views.
Day 7: Dortmund - The Real Work Begins: Dortmund marked the first day of significant Round Table work. Introduced by Moriya Philips, a past Indian President, I had the honour of meeting our International President and the dedicated team. The evening unfolded with a lively welcoming party, starting on the floor and culminating on the top floor of a 10-story building, where I reunited with the President of RT Southern Africa.
Day 8: Dortmund - AGM and Gala Dinner Back to the Future Style: The AGM took place in the morning, providing a platform for crucial discussions. Though conducted primarily in German, the atmosphere was electric, and the dedication of the attendees was palpable. In the evening, we exchanged banners and celebrated with a gala dinner, highlighted by the presence of a real DeLorean car, reminiscent of the beloved movie "Back to the Future."
My trip to Germany for the Round Table AGM was an incredible journey that combined business, pleasure, and cultural immersion. From forging new friendships to exploring historic sites and participating in Round Table activities, the experience left an indelible mark. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Matthias from RT Dortmund, all the hospitable hosts, and the friends I had the pleasure of meeting along the way

The East London No1's clubhouse recently played host to a gathering of Round Table leaders at the Border Area Chairman's and ViceChairman's meeting. Held over a weekend, the event was marked by camaraderie, good food, and lively discussions that set the tone for the year ahead.
The festivities kicked off on Friday night with a delightful "bring and braai" event, where members gathered to share delicious food and forge new connections. As laughter filled the air and friendships were strengthened, the atmosphere reflected the true spirit of Round Table fellowship.
On Saturday morning, the official meeting commenced at 9:00 am, signalling the beginning of a productive day.
The meeting was graced by the presence of esteemed guests Jacques van Wyk, Association Branding Manager, and Thomas Sutherland, Chairman of Alex Kenton 210. Their attendance served to emphasize the collaborative nature of Round Table,
where members from different areas and roles come together to share ideas and work towards a common goal.
However, it wasn't all serious business at the meeting. The lighthearted tradition of issuing fines added an element of humour and camaraderie. Members found themselves fined for humorous and often self-inflicted reasons, creating an atmosphere of good-natured banter and shared laughter. Discussions during the meeting covered a wide range of topics, including upcoming community service projects, fundraising initiatives, and strategies to enhance Round Table's impact in the Border Area. With passionate and dedicated individuals at the helm, it was evident that the future held exciting possibilities for Round Table's endeavours in the region. Graham Manthe Border Area SecretaryRound Table Stutterheim 103 was fortunate to win the Bingo Draw this year Destination Madagascar As 1 International traveller suddenly became 2 a day before departure, where Wynand Botha decided to catch the flight with me, Round Table Madagascar embraced the addition and made it happen Moving forward, traveling with fellow Tablers as opposed to flying solo is definitely recommended, especially in a Country where very little people speak English It is also a lot more fun being able to build memories together
After landing in Antananarivo and being met by Mandressy & Tafita, we enjoyed an evening out in the Capital City The next day we headed down to Manakara with the Round Table Madagascar National President, Gael Randrianarison The coastal town of Manakara is situated on the South East Coast, roughly 550km (16 Hours Drive) With beautiful landscapes which constantly change as you head South, the slow & grueling drive is eased by the surrounding views
We were fortunate to witness the chartering of a new table within the Ladies Circle in a town called Farafangana, South of Marakana. A very well organized event & we know the Ladies will grow the region with their vision and plans for the Area. The passion and commitment of the Ladies organization in association with Round Table was truly reflected throughout our time in Madagascar.
The AGM was definitely a unique experience and it is truly evident that there is a strong fellowship which flows through each and every Table and together they are certainly a very strong and festive unit. Open to new and creative ideas, the members of Madagascar are driving forward and keen to make a big difference within their communities. The Gala Dinner which followed was a real WOW occasion. In true Madagascar style, like everything else, the event begun 3 hours late. International guests were welcomed by the singing of your Countries National Anthem which was a very nice touch. Everyone was dressed to impress at the Red Carpet Themed Dinner where the new incoming Round Table Madagascar National President and his Executives were Inducted. Side by side with the Induction of the Ladies Circle’s New Council
The Food and Hospitality was simply outstanding. A highlight was certainly the Round Table Nations Night which served up a delicious variety buffet & the island party took us into the early hours with great vibes and festive music.
We were truly taken aback by the willingness of the Tablers & Ladies Circle where nothing was ever too much and we were able to experience their beautiful country and travel around being shown and informed what their culture is all about We were always accompanied by fellow Tablers (Incl some very cool 41ers) and never felt insecure or unsafe The instant bonds which were created will definitely last a life time as we as “Table Brothers” cannot wait to meet up at future International events where our paths will cross again
A country facing so many challenges with extreme poverty & overcrowding, yet rich in resources and opportunities, the beautiful island of Madagascar can only grow from strength to strength and Round Table is certainly proving that By standing together, we can all make a difference
A big thank you to Mandressy Iron as the 2022/2023 IRO (& Tabler of the Year) for doing an outstanding job within his profile making this tour possible and effortless Too many names to mention, but as is always the case, a fantastic opportunity to tour and travel whilst building new friendships which will last a lifetime

Dear Brothers,
We were privileged enough to break away from our busy schedules and Aunor our fallen brothers with our annual remembrance golf day on the 26 th of February 2023 at our home ground MooiPoort Golf Club. Theconvenor for the day was ME aka Fluffy @136Made.
First and foremost, I would like to extend my gratitude to each and every one of you for being present at our remembrance Golf Day. Your presence not only signifies your support but also serves as a testament to the bonds we share as a brotherhood. It is this unity and camaraderie that have made the eventpossible, and I am truly humbled by your presence.
Kind Regards
VogelThe players arrived in high spirits and were ready to take on the challenges ahead for the best golfer, 41er, and the team of the day. The day was packed with fellowship, brotherhood, and good old team sportsmanship.
To keep the players in line we thought it good to get some shooters on the field for the players who needed some motivation or courage to endure this gruelling course.
Nevertheless, golf shots were played, shooter shots were handed out and players had the time of their life. The players played some of the best golf games in their 30 to 40 or 41ers years. What a day to enjoy with your brothers.
After all the activities on the golf course were concluded we had our traditional braai and social where we handed out some prizes and shared some stories of the day.
Lastly, I want to express my appreciation to my brothers at large. Your continuous support and encouragement have bolstered my confidence and pushed me to strive for excellence. It is through the collective efforts of each individual within this brotherhood that we have been able to achieve great things. Together, we have created a nurturing and empowering environment that fosters growth, learning, and success.
“A brother is a friend God gave to you, a friend is a brother your heart chose for you. Other than a parent’s love, I feel that there is no greater bond in love than there is between brothers.”
Dear Brothers,
Our first R2 Project for 2023 was held at Lynnwood Lane on the 4th of February 2023. The beneficiary chosen for this event was Laerskool Louis Leipoldt.
The general idea of this type of project is to help gather some needed non-perishable foods and general-use products to help get the families through the year. Sadly, there are less fortunate families and children that can do with an extra meal or lunch bag to keep them warm and full during the months. We were absolutely astonished by the number of generous donations
we got from the community on the day. We had people going into food lovers Market to only buy one or two small items but ended up bringing an entire trolley full of items to us. In our lives, we all make choices to either help or not help others. You always have this warm sense of fulfilment that arises once you conclude a project that you know will ultimately help someone have a healthy and warm meal. We managed to gather groceries products to the value of R8 975.00 in the space of a few hours.
As a proud member of Round Table Pretoria 136, we would like to
thank everyone that contributed on the day, as well as the Marketing Manager from Brooklyn Mall that was instrumental in making this happen for us on this day.

We at Round Table 136 had the opportunity to attend the Ladies Circle AGM 2023.
Oh, what a great AGM it was! It was a weekend filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments. From the moment you arrived at the venue, you could feel the excitement and anticipation in the air.
The atmosphere was vibrant, with bonfires, onesie outfits, and an energetic playlist that had everyone on their feet. The dance floor was alive with people showcasing their best moves and letting loose their inner child.
As the night progressed, the energy only grew, and the AGM reached its peak. The music became more infectious, the dance floor more crowded, and the laughter more contagious. The celebration was a testament to the bonds we share
and the joy we can create when we come together.
The food and drinks were a delightful feast for the senses, tantalizing our taste buds with a variety of flavours and cuisines. Whether it was the mouthwatering appetizers, the delectable main courses, or the decadent desserts, every bite was a culinary delight.
Throughout the weekend, there were activities and entertainment to keep everyone engaged and entertained. The men had a men’s tour where we played some paintball, I do not have to say too much about this, yes everyone had the one person they wanted to slaughter. There was never a dull moment. People mingled, formed new connections, and shared laughter and good conversation.
But beyond the glitz and glamour, what truly made the AGM special was the company of friends, brothers,
and Sisters. It was a gathering of people who came together to celebrate, make memories, and to cherish each other's presence.
And as the AGM drew to a close, we couldn't help but feel a sense of fulfilment and happiness. The memories we made, the connections we formed, and the pure joy we experienced will forever be etched in our hearts.
Thank you to Ladies Circle who made this AGM an unforgettable experience. Let's carry the spirit of this with us as we continue to create moments of happiness and togetherness in our lives. Cheers to an incredible AGM and to the many more joyous occasions that lie ahead!
Kind Regards
Wian VogelWhat started off being a nice quiet, bright but yet chilly morning soon turned into a massively active and productive day.
I started my morning like I do any other, with my usual cup of coffee but before I even finished it this time round, I already went outside the house to start loading the car while drinking my coffee. I just couldn’t bring myself to wait any longer to go and gather food from the community to help those in need.
As quick as I possibly could, I packed my car with the Area Gazebo, and an area pull up banner and a whole bunch of other goodies I was planning on using during the day since this event was also going to be our monthly social for my clubhouse (NRT117).
Around 8am I already stopped at the Ruimsig shopping center in front of the Spar. Immediately I got to it and started to set up our spot in the parking lot before cars start to arrive otherwise, we won’t get a good spot once they start to park.
As soon as I started to unload the car, the car guards immediately came to my aid to help me set it all up without me even asking since we’ve been there before and also since they actually recognized the rondel. I found it very heart warning that the guards all knew the rondel by now and immediately came to help me set up because of it. The rondel is recognized in times and places when you sometimes least expect it.
Not long after I got the Gazebo and branding set up, my fellow tablers started to arrive. From there the fun started!
I’m sure you all know the drill of a standard R5 project by now…. You give someone a R5 and you tell them they can either keep it, or they can put it towards buying something nonperishable. If they keep the R5 coin, then you know the person probably really needed it and then you still helped someone out either way.
The parking very quickly started to buzz and people started to make their way towards the Spar. We made sure to try and talk to as many
people as possible to tell them what we’re doing. Most smiled and wanted to participate in the event. Many of these folks would tell us to keep the R5 coin, they will just go into Spar and buy stuff without it which is heartwarming to say the least. Some folks came out with bags of stuff! This would not just be your standard food cans, they really got creative this time round. The items we got ranged from your standard items like rice and maize meal and then also extended to other more interesting times some of us did not even think of like Soap and Oats.
All in all this was a good project and a good day to spend with some of my fellow Tablers. We were able to successfully gather R5000’s worth of food in only 3-4 hours. Thank to my fellow tablers, Midrand 253 and the Ladies Circle Santon 24 for assisting on the day.
A small group of determined and like-minded people can change the course of history.
