Creating Space

Hi all! My name is Miriam, but you can call me Mimi! I'm a junior double majoring in APSM and CCPA. Outside of Rotunda, I am currently a Hospitality Intern for the Dallas Cowboys. I work with the Food and Beverage team in planning, organizing, and managing events like Dallas Cowboys football games, concerts, and other third-party events.

I started my role in September of 2023, and in my short time I have learned a lot about the hospitality side of sports management. My day-to-day duties revolve around attending event meetings, working with the Banquets team to carry out event preparations, assist in liquor inventory, and researching and presenting new food and beverage market products to the Vice President of Food and Beverage.

On event days, like Dallas Cowboys games, I assist my manager with checking in employees, handing out assignments, and walking through the stadium and private club areas to oversee event activities.

My favorite part about my internship is that not everyday is the same as the rest. One day I can sitting at my desk all day submitting inventory and event transfer orders to different departments, and the next day I can be doing tastings for potential new food and drink items at AT&T Stadium. By far, my favorite memories have been walking the sidelines on game days, lunches with my Vice President, and seeing Dak reunite with Zeke on the field!

If there is anything I would like to advice to my peers is to be authentic and take risks. I have learned that by putting myself out there and growing my network, I have been rewarded with opportunities like my internship.

I am excited to see how this journey unfolds! Pony up!
