WE’RE ON THE GO Being a Rotaractor means serving humanity. When we join Rotaract, we need to become motivated, and promise ourselves to be great leaders. A great leader in this world is one who makes other leaders, not one who only leads them but makes them their better selves. Leaders are ones that see potential in everyone so as to drive them to do their job in the best way by showing others in action. In the past two years, we were struggling so much to lead the club. Most of the club members, including the president and most board members, were in their college senior year and got caught up in their graduation project and researches and because of this, the club began to struggle. To counter this, we began gathering some active members, heading meetings every week on Sunday we even started a session dubbed “ATRONS TIME” where we all gather 30 minutes before the meeting starts to make the members more punctual, drink coffee and talk about how we spent the weekend, what is new around us and so on. This made us very engaged with each other. Then we started planning new projects to serve the community, even some board Members became available and energized us at this time.

Our first major service project was AHL [Addis Holiday Launch] where Rotaract clubs fed and clothed the homeless on Ethiopian holidays and our club took the task for the Ethiopian New Year on September 12th 2019 (01/01/2012 E.C). As a result, the project was very successful and we fed about 2500 people which was a great achievement. The past president and other senior members played a vital role.
Besides that, we also
donated clothes to the homeless during the AHL. To collect the clothes, we prepared a fellowship called “SO YOU THINK YOU CAN ACT” where we invited other Rotaract Clubs and the entrance charges was clothes for donation. The fellowship was very fun and we collected very many clothes.
