Táin March Festival 2023: Queen Medb’s Army celebrate Cattle Raid of Cooley

The Táin March Festival 2023 arrived in Roscommon on July 8th in celebration of the Táin, the epic tale of the Cattle Raid of Cooley, which started and ended in Rathcroghan, one of the royal sites of Ireland.

M.A.D. Youth Theatre, in association with the Táin March Festival, and assisted by volunteers from the ‘Castles in Communities’ archaeological/ anthropological field school and cultural immersion experience in Ballintubber, re-enacted a story from the Táin in Roscommon town. This was followed by another performance at Rathcroghan by M.A.D Youth Theatre.

The Táin March Festival is supported by Roscommon County Council in association with Rathcroghan Visitor Centre, with thanks also to Roscommon Volunteer Centre. It is funded by the Roscommon County Council Creative Ireland Programme, as an action of the Co. Roscommon Heritage Plan.
