In praise of Mayo roadworks!

Dear Editor,

On reading Frank Brandon’s account of the roadworks in Mayo in the Roscommon People last week, I felt sorry for the people being delayed on their way to work. We had a lovely break in Westport a few weeks back and encountered these delays, but we were in no hurry.

I did notice the amount of huge machines doing the work. We travelled around County Mayo and you could see the great work being done – highways, walkways, greenways, cycleways, heritage centres, and beautiful parks. One could only assume that having had a steady amount of Ministers and a Taoiseach over the years must surely have helped in getting this work done.

Good luck to them and they will have no delays getting Sam Maguire around the county when they eventually get their hands on him!

Yours faithfully,

An avid reader
