SILVERBACK SUNGLASSES HOW A LOCAL ENTREPRENEUR WANTS TO BRING OUT FASHION’S WILD SIDE There’s no great strategy behind the founding of Silverback Sunglasses. Nor is there a catchy story to inspire wannabe entrepreneurs. But you’d never know that from looking at its products, or its website. Silverback founder, Matt Watson, told me over the phone: “I’d love to tell you I spotted a niche in the market, but unfortunately it wasn’t that calculated. I just wanted to do something I love, and I love sunglasses. That’s the genesis.” Silverback’s business model is really simple, and it starts, basically, with two problems that are present in the wider world of sunglasses: cost, and breakages.
