Extraordinary learning is in our nature.
A boarding and day school experience that is unparalleled in Canada.

Rosseau Lake College (RLC) is Ontario’s most northern independent school with a campus that remains unique among independent schools in the world Rosseau Lake College is an independent co-ed day and boarding school offering Grades 7 to 12. Our school was established in 1967 in the heart of Muskoka, Ontario, Canada, a region dotted with pristine lakes and areas of hardwood forest Our lakefront campus provides a unique environment for an innovative academic program that immerses your child in powerful experiential learning that’s impossible to gain in traditional classroom settings.

Elongated instruction blocks and a flexible Wednesday schedule offer both focus and depth, allowing students time to learn through intensive experimentation and first-hand experiences An intensive promotion of project-based learning builds from the student’s natural curiosity, providing a foundation for a world-class academic program

Our intentionally small school environment ensures authentic, meaningful relationships and an inclusive, warm community We are leaders in true diversity, embracing over 20 different nationalities within our community We ignite the “it” within each student, challenging and empowering your child to pursue their own passions.

“To attend RLC felt second-nature to me. It was as though I were going to school in my own backyard, immersed in the natural world ... RLC was a place of calm, focus, and inspiration.”

Samantha Brett '04, Founder of IronOaks Environmental Management Inc. Senior Environmental Advisor to TC Energy Corporation in Calgary, Alberta

Students come to Rosseau Lake College because they want to be challenged. They want to live and learn differently than they’ve ever lived or learned before They are drawn by a compelling academic tradition, one based in daily interaction with the natural world They are inspired by teachers who know that the best learning happens at the boundaries between disciplines. They come to RLC because the faculty embodies the character traits that they’d like to see in themselves: resilience, academic excellence, active living, and a sense of adventure

In addition to earning a Ontario Secondary School Diploma, students leave having spent time on outtrips They’ve paddled canoes and travelled the world They’ve snowshoed through boreal forest and slept out beneath the stars. They’ve learned alongside peers from communities around the world, down the street, and everywhere in between As alumni invariably say, they’ve found a profound sense of community and experienced how important they can be to a group, just as they’ve been lifted by it. At Rosseau Lake College, extraordinary learning is in our nature
