Helping young people

By supporting their wellbeing, and tackling issues that can affect their ability to learn.

Personal: our own growth and development

Social: the study of our interactions and relationships with others

Health: the study of looking after our bodies mentally and physically

Economic: managing money and financial literacy

Social Media andAI

Very much a part of young people’s social worlds now, we also know that social media can lead to a plethora of issues.

Akey focus this year will be on digital wellbeing, as well as raising awareness for pupils of their long-lasting digital footprint.

Finally, our rules on mobile phones here in school and the use ofYONDR pouches both support digital wellbeing practices.

The Importance

● Young people are growing up in a rapidly changing world- additional stressors

● Ensuring that they have the right strategies and positive mindset to help them succeed

● Prepares them for life and work

● Seeks to develop a skill set of critical thinking, flexibility, confidence and social skills, to help them on their academic journey

Curriculum for life

● We recognise that starting the new school year, exams, and social pressures may lead to levels of stress for some - all pupils will respond differently and experience these pinch points in a variety of ways.

● The whole purpose of PSHE, as a program of study, is to share strategies to support pupil wellbeing

The Structure

● Adopt a whole school approach, to allow for support to be consistent

● Timetabled sessions,TutorTime and assemblies, guest speakers and drop down days. Our drop down days will tackle issues including digital and overall wellbeing, anti-bullying and substance education. Learning opportunities based on three core themes: Health and Wellbeing, living in the wider world and relationships. Each core theme will also link to fundamental British values.
