Floating Boundaries
The Suspended brick cylinders of this project create the character of the interior space . It gives a sense of grandeur due the high ceilings and at the same time give the customers a sense of privacy and blocks the surrounding skyscrapers in view, in this way this main structure has a multitude of uses
The idea to create a abstraction of the bubble of privacy created by the cylinder while still creating a sense of transluency due to the jalli openings offered by the wooden bricks create an interesting combination.
This play of levels emphasized by the cylinders is showcased in the model by playing with cylinders of different heights

Ex. 01 | Tectonics & Materiality
Part 01 | Exploring concepts of Tectonic Materiality
Process:
On studying and understanding the characteristics of the numerous Interior design projects on the basis of attributes such as Scale, Duality , Emphasis, Materiality etc. an understanding of the interior project allows us to draw inferences from this matrix study. Several types of interior projects are added into consideration including historical projects and mordern interior design practice projects.
On observing multiple inferences of the interior projects a tentative hypothesis can be reached, om studying inferences from multiple projects , this hypothesis can be solidified and an inderstanding of the projects can be reached

Adaptive Reuse of FA CEPT, Ahmedabd
The site FA CEPT has a strong character with rigid lines with strong mordernistic character. There is a play with levels and withan interplay double height spaces as well . With the choice of displaying Da Vinci’s Dream Machines there was a need to create structures that could break the rigid lines while still bringing the focus to the objects.
Creating flowing sculptural forms and structures that utilized tensigrity to orchestrate the spaces was the desired outcome for this space.
A sense of lightness as a juxtaposition to the rigidity of the site to bring emphasis to the objects housed in these “ habitable sculptures “

Forward:
While observing the trajectory of this exercise, through its evolution from the previous role to the current role, the study of (usage) of the materials is something that stands out in its usage and form.Sometimes material,as seen in the work of Joseph Beuys and some of the artists in the Arte Povera group can be exposed in their essence beyond all culturally conveyed meaning. This very essence can be conveyed through either the sense of nostalgia or memory brought by the use of the material in a space.
In this case, the facets of the surface set alight by the light passing through the transparent facets while then merging into flat planes setting free a memory in my consciousness of caves carved by nature itself while lending its inner self to the transparency of a geode.
The potential of this space used to house the creations of Da Vinci, while these inventions seem to have carved a place for itself in this space is something I sense has a parallel trajectory to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. The impressive thing of Bach’s music is its sense of ‘architecture’ .The construction of the music seems clear and transparent which you can understand without losing sense of the composition of the piece.
Construction is the art of making a meaningful whole out of many parts , which can be one of the ways to bring out the detail and workmanship in this role, by creating the details on how this space is constructed and falls together.
Peter Zumthor
