Overview

Over the course of three days, students will take part in a variety of activities, offering them an exciting chance to discover new skills, unleash their creativity, and embark on an adventure!

Year 7 will dive into the world of animals with Rosebery Zoology, while Year 8 will unleash their creativity in our Harry Potter-themed Rosebery Studio. Year 9 students taking part in Bronze DofE will embark on their expedition, while those not doing DofE have chosen one of three exciting projects over the first two days, culminating with the whole of Year 9 going to Chessington World of Adventures. Year 10 have also chosen one of these projects, Rosebery Wellbeing and a trip to Thorpe Park.

Our students will embark on a thrilling three-day adventure that will immerse them in the world of biomes and habitats.

On day 1, students will visit Whipsnade Zoo by coach to explore a wide variety of animals and the unique environments they call home. Armed with new knowledge, day 2 will spark their creativity as they design stop-motion films about their chosen animal, while experimenting with different artistic techniques. On day 3, they’ll bring all their learning together by creating an interactive board game that reflectstheirunderstandingofboththeanimalanditsbiome.

Year 8 will embark on a magical three-day Harry Potter experience that brings the enchantment of the books and films directly to the classroom!

Over the course of the three days, students will dive into design activities, scriptwriting, characterisation, and taking part in a potion class, where they will get a chance to explore their creativity in true wizarding style.

A real highlight of the experience will be the inter-house Quidditch tournament! Enrich Education will be leading ‘Quidditch in the Quad’ over two days, where students will be sorted into houses and participate in interactive sessions.

Students are expected to be in school from 8.30am to 3.00pm and can wear suitable non-uniform clothes. The X side should wear sportswear for Quidditch on Tuesday 15 July and the Y side should be ready in sportswear on Wednesday 16 July.

The school canteen will be open as usual throughout the three days.

We can’t wait to see everyone embrace the magic of Harry Potter during this exciting adventure!

Bronze Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

This year, 162 Year 9 students have signed up to to take part in the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award and will undertake the eagerly anticipated expedition over the course of 2 days. At Bronze level, this involves two days of walking and one night of camping.

Students will start at a location near The North Downs and in groups of 5-7, walk to their campsite, carrying their belongings and equipment as a team. At the campsite, students pitch their tents, cook their dinner on a trangia, spend quality timewiththeirteammatesandcampovernight.

On the second day, students pack up their equipment, which they will then carry to theirfinaldestination.

The expedition is run by the professional expedition company, Adventure Expeditions.

This adventure will not only test their physical endurance, but will also build resilience,teamworkandmakeunforgettablememoriesthatwilllastalifetime!

Following the amazing success of our Wellbeing Day in January, we’re bringing back some of those awesome strategies to help Year 10 students prioritise their wellbeing!

Over the course of two, action-packed days, students will take part in a carousel of engaging projects, from fitness workouts, boxing, crafting, healthy protein bar makingandmore.

Students are expected to be in school 8.30am - 3.00pm and should wear sports clothingthatallowsthemtotakepartinalltheactivities.

We will start both days in the Sports Hall, where students will be registered and thenhaveanintroductoryassemblyforthedayahead.

Theschoolcanteenwillbeopenasnormalforbreakandlunchtime.

Year 10

As part of the Year 10 journey, we feel it is important to reward students on their remarkable journey this year, by spending the day at Thorpe Park.

We will be travelling by coach, from Epsom (return) to Thorpe Park, allowing the students ample time at the theme park. Students will meet in the canteen at 8.30am to be registered and will be dismissed from the Dorking Road layby in Epsom around 4.00pmdependingontraffic.

Students will need to bring a packed lunch, or money to purchase food during the day andcanwearsuitablenon-uniformclothing.

If you have told us you have a merlin pass, please ensure the ticket is booked and with yourchildontheday.

An exciting opportunity for students to spend two fantastic days exploring the sights and attractions of London!

On day 1, students will arrive at the Natural History Museum, where they’ll enjoy a self-guided tour of its incredible exhibits. A special highlight is the exhibition showcasing the role photography has played in advancing the science of natural history, offering a fascinating look at how this art form has helped shape our understandingofthenaturalworld.

Day 2 will take students to the Tower of London, where they’ll enjoy a self guided tour of London’s iconic castle, getting up close to the Crown Jewels and meet the legendaryYeomanWardens.

Students are expected to meet at Epsom Train Station 8.50am and will return by 3.00pm.Theycanwearsuitablenon-uniformclothing,butpleaseensuretheywear comfortable trainers or sensible footwear for the day’s walking. Students should also bring a packed lunch. They will travel by train with staff from Epsom and will need to purchase their own ticket on the day, or have access to a card that allows themtotapandgo.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience the beauty and culture ofLondonfirst-hand!

Here’s an incredible opportunity for our students to give back to the community!

Students involved in the two days of activities, should meet in the Sixth Form Coffee ba nexttotheHIVEat8:30ameachday.

Our guests will be treated to an elegant afternoon, with food presented at tastefully arranged tables, accompanied by live music and drama performances. This event is a chance for our students to shine through creativity, teamwork and kindness, making a real difference in the lives of others It’s not just about the afternoon tea; it’s about comingtogethertocelebratecommunityand creatinglastingmemories

Students have an amazing opportunity to get involved in fun, hands-on activities that will have a real, positive impact on the Rosebery site!

Through our Rewilding Club, students have undertaken small exciting projects throughout the year, transforming our school grounds into a thriving, biodiverse haven. From planting hedgerows to creating wildlife habitats, these activities are not only about connecting with nature but also promoting wellbeing and environmental stewardship. Our ultimate goal? To create a Wild Wellbeing Walk by 2027 – a celebration of nature thatwillbeenjoyedforyearstocome.

FAQ

What do I wear?

The whole week is a non uniform week, but students should wear clothing that is suitable for the activity. We suggest trainers, so they are comfortable especially if they are due to walk a lot.

For some of the activities in Year 8 and 10, students are expected to wear sportswear.

Can students buy food from the canteen as usual?

Yes, the canteen will be open at break and lunch as usual for food and drinks to be purchased.

My daughter has a Merlin pass, what do I need to do?

Ensure we are already aware and you have booked the ticket directly for Chessington World of Adventures or Thorpe Park. Ensure your daughter brings it with them on the day as failure to do so will result in refused entry
