The Hive is a student-centred area which aims to provide support and build resilience to students and is the first port of call for every student if they need anything during the school day.

Aim of The Hive

The aim of the Hive is to remove any student concerns/worries that, if left unresolved, may create barriers to their learning. Some of these issues may include anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, feelings of isolation and any other emotional issues that can impact upon a student’s general feeling of wellbeing. Either on a 1:1, ad-hoc or group work basis and is available to support students with very specific needs including, ASD support, diversity groups and young carers.

The Hive is here to support all our students.

The Hive Team

Hive Team Manager – Mrs Jenns

The Hive Team Manager works with the Heads of Year to ensure that the appropriate support is put in place for students; this may be through 1:1 therapeutic intervention and/or group work. Mrs Jenns is also a member of the Safeguarding Team at Rosebery School.

School Counsellor

A professional and confidential counselling and mental wellbeing service is available for students who may be experiencing personal, emotional or mental health difficulties.

Student Wellbeing Mentor – Mrs Wild

The Student Wellbeing Mentor works with students on a 1:1, group or ad-hoc basis Focusing on building resilience and confidence and supporting students who have faced bereavement or other difficult family issues.

Student Learning & Wellbeing Support Assistant – Mrs Smith

Mrs Smith delivers 1:1 and small group interventions addressing a wide range of issues which may include anxiety, self-esteem and resilience.

Health Mentor and Student Careers & Guidance - Mrs Keaveney

Within her role as Health Mentor and Lead First Aider, Mrs Keaveney supports students who may be feeling generally unwell and ensure that appropriate first aid is given. She is also the Careers Lead and Careers Personal Guidance Advisor across the whole school.

Student Welfare Receptionist – Miss Makaoui

Miss Makaoui is the first point of contact for all students entering The Hive. The Student Welfare Receptionist ensures that students are triaged in a timely manner, depending on their need, to receive the support they require.

Mind Matters

The CBT Therapist supports Rosebery School once a week to offer guidance and advice to our students over the age of 17 years, who may be experiencing anxiety, stress depression or other mental health concerns.

MHSTs

The MHST practitioners are in Rosebery School regularly to supplement the existing support currently offered via The Hive. They are an early intervention service offering a range of evidence-based interventions, including guided selfhelp for children and young people who are experiencing low mood, anxiety and challenging behaviour.

School Nurse

Our School Nurse is available to speak to any student with medical or health concerns and an appointment can be requested via The Hive.

Pet Therapy Dog - Bella

Our latest addition to The Hive team is Bella, who is able to offer support to students and aid in reducing student stress and anxiety. Bella attends school once a week on a Tuesday and offers students small group or one to one sessions.

SHARP

This service has been set up to help students and their peers, with any concerns they may have, in or out of school, which they may feel unable to share in school, or wish to share anonymously. The service can be accessed via the School website or via the QR codes around school.

Pupils’ welfareis energetically supported by well-being ambassadors and the Hive facility, which offers exceptional support for pupils’ mental health. The provisionsupportspupilswitharangeof concernssuch as anxiety, stress, depression and low self-esteem. In addition, the Hive website offers a wealth of information for parents, including where to find support and guidance.
