I am delighted to officially launch Activities Week, a fantastic opportunity for our students to take part in exciting off-timetable activities that are all about enrichment, adventure, and most importantly, fun! This is a time where Rosebery girls can step away from their usual routine, explore new interests and create unforgettable memories with their friends.

From thrilling outdoor expeditions to creative projects, sports challenges and cultural experiences, Activities Week has something for everyone. It's a time to try something new, develop new skills and make the most of these enriching experiences outside the classroom.

This brochure is packed with all the details you need to know about the amazing activities available for each year group, designed to inspire and excite your daughter.

To secure your daughter’s place in her chosen activities, simply head to the relevant year group pages for booking information.

Overview

Over the course of three days, students will take part in a variety of activities, offering them an exciting chance to discover new skills, unleash their creativity, and embark on an adventure!

Year 7 will dive into the world of animals with Rosebery Zoology, while Year 8 will unleash their creativity in our Harry Potter-themed Rosebery Studio. Year 9 students taking part in Bronze DofE will embark on their expedition, while those not doing DofE can choose from three exciting projects over the first two days, culminating with the whole of Year 9 coming together for a trip to Chessington World of Adventures. Year 10 will also have access to these projects, as well as the chancetotakepartinRoseberyWellbeingandatriptoThorpePark.

Exciting news for Year 7! Our students will embark on a thrilling three-day adventure that will immerse them in the world of biomes and habitats.

On day 1, students will visit Whipsnade Zoo by coach to explore a wide variety of animals and the unique environments they call home. Armed with new knowledge, day 2 will spark their creativity as they design stop-motion films about their chosen animal, while experimenting with different artistic techniques. On day 3, they’ll bring all their learning together by creating an interactive board game that reflectstheirunderstandingofboththeanimalanditsbiome.

This hands-on project promises to be both fun and educational, giving students a fantasticopportunitytolearnandbecreative!

Students are expected to be in school from 8.30am to 3.00pm and should wear suitable,non-uniformclothing.

On Monday 14 July, students will need to bring a packed lunch and ensure they wearcomfortabletrainersorsensiblefootwear,suitableforplentyofwalking.

On Tuesday15andWednesday16July,theschoolcanteenwillbeopenasusual.

The total cost for the trip and activities is £28.50, which should be paid via ParentPaybySunday20April.

Year 8 students will embark on a magical three-day Harry Potter experience that brings the enchantment of the books and films directly to the classroom!

Over the course of the three days, students will dive into design activities, scriptwriting, characterisation, and directing projects, where they'll get a chance to exploretheircreativityintruewizardingstyle.

A real highlight of the experience will be the inter-house Quidditch tournament! Enrich Education will be leading ‘Quidditch in the Quad’ over two days, where students will be sorted into houses and participate in interactive sessions with all theequipmentprovided.Whichhousewillyoubein?

Students are expected to be in school from 8.30am to 3.00pm and can wear suitable non-uniform clothes. The X side should wear sportswear for Quidditch on Tuesday 15 July and the Y side should be ready in sportswear on Wednesday 16July.

Theschoolcanteenwillbeopenasusualthroughoutthethreedays.

The total cost for this magical experience is £15, which should be paid via ParentPaybySunday20April2025.

Year9studentswhohavesignedupforBronzeDofEwillbe completingtheirexpeditionduringActivitiesWeek,while thosenotpartakinginDofEhavetheoptionofchoosing betweenoneofthreeexcitingprojects.

AllstudentsinYear9willalsobeattendingatripto ChessingtonWorldofAdventures.

Bronze Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

This year, 162 Year 9 students have signed up to to take part in the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award and will undertake the eagerly anticipated expedition over the course of 2 days. At Bronze level, this involves two days of walking and one night of camping.

Students will start at a location near The North Downs and in groups of 5-7, walk to their campsite, carrying their belongings and equipment as a team. At the campsite, students pitch their tents, cook their dinner on a trangia, spend quality timewiththeirteammatesandcampovernight.

On the second day, students pack up their equipment, which they will then carry to theirfinaldestination.

The expedition is run by the professional expedition company, Adventure Expeditions.

This adventure will not only test their physical endurance, but will also build resilience,teamworkandmakeunforgettablememoriesthatwilllastalifetime!

Year 9

To celebrate the success of graduating into Upper School, Year 9 are invited to spend the day at Chessington World of Adventures.

Students will be expected to make their own travel arrangements to and from the themepark,withmoreinformationregardingmeetingtimestofollow.

Students will need to bring a packed lunch, or money to purchase food during the dayandshouldwearsuitable,non-uniformclothing.

The cost for this activity is £21, which should be paid via ParentPay by Sunday 20 April2025.

If your daughter has a Merlin Pass, please book her ticket directly with Chessington World of Adventures and complete this form to give your consent for their attendance. Please note, payment via ParentPay will not be necessary if you have bookedtheticketdirectlywithyourMerlinPass.

This is the perfect opportunity to celebrate all their hard work and growth and createunforgettablememoriesasayeargroup.

All students in Year 10 will also be attending a trip to Thorpe Park.

Following the amazing success of our Wellbeing Day in January, we’re bringing back some of those awesome strategies to help Year 10 students prioritise their wellbeing!

Over the course of two, action-packed days, students will take part in engaging projects led by expert external providers. From self-defence and sound baths to yoga, pilates and fitness workouts, we’ll cover it all! Plus, we’ll explore the essentials ofahealthydiettofuelbothbodyandmind.

We understand how important it is to balance studies with wellbeing, this means interactive sessions that’ll boost revision confidence, promote healthier phone habits,inspirephysicalactivityandsupportmentalwellbeing.

Students are expected to be in school 8.30am - 3.00pm and should wear sports clothingthatallowsthemtotakepartinalltheactivities.

Theschoolcanteenwillbeopenasnormalforbreakandlunchtime.

Year 10

As part of the Year 10 journey, we feel it is important to reward students on their remarkable journey this year, by spending the day at Thorpe Park.

We will be travelling by coach, from Epsom (return) to Thorpe Park, allowing the students ample time at the theme park. Students will meet in the canteen at 8.30am to be registered and will be dismissed from the Dorking Road layby in Epsom around 4.00pmdependingontraffic.

Students will need to bring a packed lunch, or money to purchase food during the day andcanwearsuitablenon-uniformclothing.

The cost for this activity is £45, which should be paid via ParentPay by Sunday 20 April 2025.

An exciting opportunity for students to spend two fantastic days exploring the sights and attractions of London!

On day 1, students will arrive at the Natural History Museum, where they’ll enjoy a self-guided tour of its incredible exhibits. A special highlight is the exhibition showcasing the role photography has played in advancing the science of natural history, offering a fascinating look at how this art form has helped shape our understandingofthenaturalworld.

Day 2 will take students to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, home to some of London’s most iconic landmarks, including the ArcelorMittal Orbit (Britain’s largest piece of public art), the London Aquatics Centre and the London Stadium. The park isalsofilledwithvastparklandsforstudentstoexploreandenjoy.

Students are expected to arrive at school by 8.30am and will return by 3.00pm. They can wear suitable non-uniform clothing, but please ensure they wear comfortable trainers or sensible footwear for the day’s walking. Students should also bring a packed lunch. They will travel by train with staff from Epsom and will needtopurchasetheirownticketontheday.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to experience the beauty and culture ofLondonfirst-hand!

Here’s an incredible opportunity for our students to give back to the community!

Students will design, cook and serve a delicious afternoon tea to elderly residents from thelocalarea,hostedinourbeautifullydecoratedschoolhallonTuesday15July.

Our guests will be treated to an elegant afternoon, with food presented at tastefully arranged tables, accompanied by live music and drama performances. This event is a chance for our students to shine through creativity, teamwork and kindness, making a real difference in the lives of others. It’s not just about the afternoon tea; it’s about comingtogethertocelebratecommunityand creatinglastingmemories.

Students have an amazing opportunity to get involved in fun, hands-on activities that will have a real, positive impact on the Rosebery site!

Through our Rewilding Club, students have undertaken small exciting projects throughout the year, transforming our school grounds into a thriving, biodiverse haven. From planting hedgerows to creating wildlife habitats, these activities are not only about connecting with nature but also promoting wellbeing and environmental stewardship. Our ultimate goal? To create a Wild Wellbeing Walk by 2027 – a celebration of nature thatwillbeenjoyedforyearstocome.

Over the two days, students will:

FAQ

My daughter is in Year 7 or 8, can she choose one of the other projects?

Year 7 and 8 students have a fixed project for the three days. The selection is only available for Year 9 and 10 students.

Will there be any other costs involved?

All costs are outlined in this brochure and are fixed for each experience. The only additional cost is for travel for the Cultural Capital trip and for purchasing additional food or souvenirs.

When is the deadline for payment on ParentPay?

All activities must be paid for by Sunday 20 April 2025 so we can confirm numbers and pay final invoices.

My daughter has a Merlin pass, can she use this?

Yes, please book your daughters tickets directly and ensure she brings it with her on the day as failure to do so will result in refused entry. For Thorpe Park, the cost will be amended to reflect just the coach cost. Please fill in the relevant forms on page 9 or 12.

When will we find out what project my daughter will be doing?

You will be notified shortly after Sunday 20 April 2025.

Additional information will be provided to the specific groups nearer the time.

Terms of Inclusion

All students are expected to participate in Activities Week. Once payment has been made via ParentPay, changes cannot be made and your payment is non-refundable.

Inclusion on Activities Week is dependent upon acceptable attendance (91%+) and exemplary behaviour from launch until departure. The school reserves the right not to include any student whose attendance is not acceptable or whose behaviour indicates that they may not be a good ambassador for the school.

We are required to carry out our agreed risk assessments for all trips and activities. This includes the mitigation of risks to all participants. Whilst we would like every student to be able to participate in non-essential, extra-curricular trips, in a limited number of circumstances, acute physical, medical or safeguarding issues may mean it is not possible for your daughter to attend. Where this is likely to be an issue, we will contact you directly at the earliest opportunity.
