You can change the world Graphic by Nikole Nguyen

inger Steven Morrissey once said, “You may not realize this, but people have the power to change the world.” Anyone can change the world. It doesn’t take just one action or one type of person to do something significant in the little time spent on Earth. A combination of characteristics allows a person to make a life-changing discovery or even just a small impact on someone’s life. There are so many qualities in a potential world-changer, and certain noticeable qualities are exhibited in the students here at Northwest. Leadership. Innovation. Intelligence. Compassion. Conviviality. Teachers encourage students to utilize these abilities in their everyday lives in hopes that by the time they are seniors, they

scores,” Streeter said. “It applies to every area, even arts and music. Those require different kinds of intelligence.” Streeter is right. Intelligence is not just measured in test scores, and it can be any degree of intellect. And what is intelligence without a little innovation? To be innovative, one must have imagination. But such creativity like innovation is not simply inventing something as some people may think. Innovation is finding a way to apply a new method or solution to a problem. Senior Sam Pool exhibits much of the attitude of an innovative person. His curiosity leads him to try to find his own way to solve a problem, especially in math and sciences. “I always need to play around with [equations] and see what works,” Pool said. “I hate it when teachers give you an equation and expect you to just accept it.” On the other side of a worldSee “World changers,” pg. 2
