What is a thermal camera and how does it work?

A thermal camera employs two different sensors, one optical, one thermal. As the camera records employees and customers entering your premises, the thermal sensor also registers their temperatures. As soon as it detects an above-normal reading, a notification identifies that person as having an elevated temperature.

Thermal cameras, used at optimum angles, can measure many people at a time. They can rapidly detect a person’s body temperature at distances ranging from 2.5 m to 9 m. These cameras require no physical contact between the camera operator and the person being screened. Best of all, by rapidly taking the temperature of every employee or customer as they arrive at your workplace, your company can take prompt action and identify people with an elevated temperature.

Up until now, in order to track elevated skin temperatures, businesses have been limited to impractical methods, such as handheld forehead thermometers. This not only limits the speed at which workers and customers can enter your place of business, but can also be invasive and unsafe, especially for the front-line worker who is taking the temperature.

Equipment is ADT-owned. Customer has the option to either sign a twelve (12) month or twenty-four

(24) month payment plan by making equal payments throughout the term chosen. Subject to ADT sales conditions. Satisfactory credit history required. If a customer chooses to pay for the smart thermal camera upfront in full, they will receive a 10% discount off the cost of the thermal camera only. Prices exclude taxes. Customers who pay upfront will own the camera outright. The camera will not be connected via network or any means to your existing security devices or peripherals including monitoring. Final eligibility for the Camera will be determined by a licensed ADT by TELUS technician in accordance to minimum system requirements and location. ADT may terminate the agreement if the installation of the Camera does not meet the standards established by ADT or entails unusual expenses. Any add-ons will be an extra cost. Cannot be combined with other TELUS Secure Business promotional offers. A cancellation fee applies for early termination of the agreement.

Thermal camera must be returned in good condition upon cancellation of service if payment plan has not been paid in full, otherwise the replacement costs will be charged to the account.
