Using different types of ICT tools to work about Religions and Social Studies

✓ First it was explained to students what was the main goal to do this work. ✓ Then students have worked together to assess and to analyse similarities and differences between religions. ✓ Then divided in groups, they have created this digital artwork entitled "United in diversity" with the new instruments.

The Lusitania’s Mythology that we know arrive to us in the shape of testimonies sculpted in stone. It revel us the existence of many gods, from witch stand out Atégina, Bandua e Endovélico.

The first people that lived in the Iberian Peninsula were known as Celtiberos, a mixed from the Celts with the Iberian people.

Atégina or Ataegina is the goddess of rebirth (Spring), fertility, nature and healing in the Lusitania's mythology. She’s also related with the salt’s production because she is founded in places related with the extraction of this product, such as Alcácer do Sal and Esposende.

Bandua is a warrior god, from the warrior magic. He’s attached to human communities, to groups of elite warriors that lived apart from the rest of the community, dedicated essentially to war, that despised the money.

EndovÊlico is the most known from the Lusitania’s Ancient Gods.

He is similar to Celt God Sucellus, from witch cult there are some trace elements. His temple in the S. Miguel da Mota’s hill, in Alentejo, was abundantly studied.

This would be a divinity from the underground world, gifted to prophecy and protector of life after death.

Roman Mythology is the set of believes and practices polytheist, meaning, it includes many gods with different names from the greek gods, but similar them. To the Roman People, men and gods would have to live in harmony, having mutual trust. The rituals and cults had, as purpose to please the gods, once that from them depended the heath, the state protection, the success in war, the full crops and finally, the men’s prosperity.

The Roman People arrived to the Iberian Peninsula in the III century before Christ.

Saturn was considerate the Prosperity God. He was the harvest's protector, who watched for the crops so that they were abundant. He was also related to the creation myth, because the Roman People have made him equal to the greek god Chronos, lord of the time and the world, and father of the other gods. In Saturn’s honour, they would celebrated the saturnine fests, that lasted for a week. In that time, it was custom to clean and purify the homes.

Juno was the Roman goddess who protected the nation as a whole, but also maintained special vigilance over all aspects of women's lives. She is often thought of as the Roman version of the Greek goddess of love and marriage, Hera. Juno was the deity of marriage. She was regarded as the guardian goddess of women and births. Her personality was strong, marked by pride, aggression and much jealousy. Her favorite bird was the peacock. And in the places through which he passed, he leaves the peacock feathers to mark the places he protected.

Venus is the goddess of love and beauty in the Roman Mythology. She is the equivalent of the goddess Aphrodite in the greek mythology.

According to the myth, Venus was the ideal of feminine beauty. The goddess possessed a car pulled by swans. Venus was born of sea foam.

She was so beautiful that Minerva (reason goddess), Diana (goddess of the moon and of the fishing) and Vesta (home goddess) felt impaired, since men lost their reason for Venus’s beauty.

Christianity

The Christianity is a monotheistic religion centred in the life and teaching of Jesus of Nazareth, such are presented in the new testament. The Christian faith believes essencialy is Jesus as Christ, Son of God, Saviour and Lord.

This religion arrived to the Iberian Peninsula around the fourth century, brought by the Roman People.

The Christianity played an important role in the formation of the occidental civilization, at least after the fourth century. In the beginning of the twentieth first century, there were 2,3 billion of believers, representing almost a quarter of the world’s population. It is one of the religions in the world with more followers.

Islam

The Islam is a religion monotheistic articulated by the Quran, a text considered by their followers as the literal word of God (Ala in Arabian), and by the teaching and normative examples of Mohammed (called suna), considered, by the followers as the last prophet of God. The Islam arrived to the Iberian Peninsula in the year 711with the Arabian People originated from the North of Africa.

Someone who follows the Islam is called a Muslim. They believe that God is only one and is incomparable, that the purpose of their life is to adore him and that Islam is the full and universal version of a primordial faith that was revealed in many periods and places in earlier times by prophets such as Abraham, Moses and Jesus.
