LADIES PROBUS LUNCHEON AND AGM

Our outgoing president, Susan Johnston, welcomed everyone and gave her annual report. She commended members for their ongoing support to our Ukrainian families on the island throughout the year. She then gave an update on the completion of donations to the three selected charities for 2022/23. Susan confirmed that herself and Sue Clark would be stepping down from the committee. She thanked the entire committee for their support during her time as secretary and president and gave a special thanks to Sue for her eight years of service to the club. Business then moved on to the confirmation of the three new committee members, Anne, Stella and Avril. Janet Quayle was confirmed as the new president. Committee elections were followed by the Treasurers annual report.

Charity Support 2023/24

Then it was on to choosing the three charities the club will support during 2023/24. The votes went to Trebaluger Equine Rescue Center, the Mao Orphanage and Red Cross.

With any other business concluded, Susan passed the President’s chain of office to Janet and Sue and Susan were presented with beautiful plants and a bottle to enjoy later.

May Luncheon at Don Pablos

The Ladies Probus May Luncheon was held at Don Pablos on Thursday 11 May 2023 - it was the first luncheon that the new President, Janet Quayle, officiated. A raffle took place with numerous prizes and a bottle of wine was donated by Paul on behalf of the restaurant.

The President welcomed all the ladies and introduced the new committee. She mentioned all birthdays for the coming month and distributed birthday cards. She also mentioned the Choirs summer concert 9th and 10th July 2023 - those tickets available from Shelley (689 177 164 or 07791 273062) for the price of 15 euros.

The second Thursday of every month heralds our Ladies Probus lunch and in April we went to Il Porto for the AGM. It was a pleasure to return to one of our favourite restaurants where they always take such good care of us. Our numbers were slightly down as a nasty respiratory bug and covid linger and members were also still away from the island on Easter holidays. Those who attended were in good spirits and enjoyed a lovely three course lunch followed by the customary raffle. Then it was down to business.

We would like to thank Paul and his team for a lovely luncheon which consisted of a choice of 3 starters 3 mains and 3 desserts. We again compliment Paul on the good food and service we experienced A loyal toast was given to King Charles 3rd on his coronation.
