These courses provide the necessary skills for students to adequately process and review literary works in their eleventh grade literature class. Target Skills Students employ various forms of literature for both professional and personal purposes including academic assignments, recreation, and social events. Surprisingly, students are not completely aware of the significant influence that literature has on their lives. Attitudes Students express little to no excitement about literary subjects. Most students confine literature to long prose works like novels or short complicated works like poetry. Though these literary forms are of the most common, the genre also extends to song and film. Learning Style Perceptual Preferences and Strengths Students of this generation are hesitant to the traditional blackboard method of learning. Instead, students express interest in multimedia aspects of sound, image, and motion picture. Students also express significant interest in both timeless and contemporary issues that affect their generation like interpersonal relationships, party lives, and romances. Motivational Factors Students are hesitant to communicate with teachers and therefore prefer to collaborate with their peers. Consequently, students complete their best works while in groups of three to four members.
