I always start my day with gratitude. I’ve been fortunate to get to share people’s story and here is a little of mine.

Peace takes practice, Perfect takes pressure!

When people meet me, they say it's impossible to believe I raise my voice, let alone a hand. This is one of the biggest compliments I receive next to how youthful I look. My lowest moments have always brought me to my knees, but when I got there the Most High was there too. I learned that I am in control, and that, like everything else in this world is dipped in duality! Every great thing has its polar opposite and the poles never move we do. Balance is a skill it takes practice, routine, attentive openness. You have to be patient with yourself and know sometimes your priorities may have to switch positions. Accountability is a must! If you always can find someone else to blame, you will never fix the issues you have. Relationship building with all levels of relationship. You want people involved in your life to feel you can effectively interact. Discipline should start your day! Ambition should be the ringleader of your intentions!

You can wish for change, or you can be the change! Barriers are created to keep us on the safest path known to man. Ceilings are made to provide cover in extreme or inclement times. Then you were made; made to challenge the necessity of these parameters. Real Roqkstars break glass ceilings and create new barriers! Sometimes silence is where we find all the answers. I use my stillness and the grace of God. Peace takes practice, perfect takes pressure. An experience means more than you can imagine. How you treat people impacts you both! It cost nothing to be kind. Salah is what keeps the heart pure: Prayer is knowing to call for grace and to give gratitude! written by:Kia El Bey

By Ki.IXOfficial When I think about the soundtrack of my life I think of “Dear Mama,” by Tupac. My momma has been a role model for me always. I have always been a fighter so “through the wire,” Kanye West definitely makes the playlist! Knuck if you buck is always going to make the list because even though I practice peace I’m always up to beat a challenge! So many songs in the HipHop Genre can really change your life just by giving you something to relate to. The Celebration starts in 1973 in the Bronx, imagine being in that room. Dj Kool Herc (Clive Campbell). His unique ear and courage to allow his style to ignite something in others. What does Hip Hop ignite in you? Who would you like to se honored? It is amazing to see Icons such as Ludacris, Missy Elliot, Diddy, Jermaine Dupri and so many others honored this year! Imagine 50 years ago how impossible it must have seemed for a Black/ Nubian person let alone woman to be entered into the ‘Rock Hall of Fame, and Missy Elliot has changed history forever! 8

HIP-HOP FROM THE BEGINNING The times may have changed the words, but the feeling of Hip Hop never changes. People from all walks of life expressing their journey and their struggles, sharing their love and their gain, rhythmically. You ever bop your head so hard people questioned if you were ok? Have you ever krump danced in your mirror?

Bad Boy Record label. Bad Boy Records was the home to many other legends such as Diddy, Faith Evans, Craig Mack, Mase, Rick Ross, French Montana, Stevie J and many other great artist. Do you remember the song “It’s Goin’ Down?” The artist was also signed to Bad Boy for a time of his career.

women in Rap we can’t deny the amazing Lauryn Hill. This Legend is currently celebrating 25 years of her album “ The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” accompanied by the Fugees. Lauryn Hill currently still holds the record for The bestselling album by a female rapper, and the best selling neo-soul album of all time.

I want you to think about the barriers you have to break now to make it. Not to discredit our struggles and innovations of today; I do want to highlight the paths that were created by those who came before us.

Hip Hop was sculpted by so many great leaders. Queen Latifah known for her hit Grammy award winning song “U.N.I.T.Y” proved women belonged in Hip Hop and that their message is impactful and impossible to deny. The thing I love most about Queen Latifah is you never hear much from her personal life and there has never really been any drama with her; outside of movie screens! just winning awards, 30 to be exact! When we speak about legendary

Missy Elliot I feel sometimes gets overlooked and that in my opinion, comes from not knowing where to place her. She started in the 90's but is still very much relevant and active today. She was just honored with her induction as the first female rapper in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame.

Notorious B.I.G a name that carries enough weight to introduce itself. When it comes to inspiration countless people have named Biggie! Christopher Wallace signed to the acclaimed

I must mention the legendary Tupac who at a young age took the world by storm he still reigns!

We must honor our legends alive and in their absence! 50 years of Hip Hop is such a momentous moment! Pastor Troy is such a legend “ We Ready,” is still an anthem. Live your purpose. Atlanta Hip-Hop Day Festival 2023 Shot by The Media Club

HIPHOP IN 2023 WRITTEN BY KIA EL BEY Hip Hop in 2023 is about movement. The attention span of a listener now is so short that either your influence keeps them listening or you really have to load your bars and keep the cadence catchy. The Migos are greatly known for their rhythmic and catchy hooks, chorus’s and adlibs. Their catchy and trending style became so acclaimed that even Superstar Beyoncé used them in her music. 2023 Rap has been a “Female Takeover,” year with many emerging and re-emerging female rappers dropping hits. Ice spice has had the world in a choke hold with her catchy hits that give a mix of pop and Hip Hop. Glorilla really spiced up the scene putting Memphis on the board and keeping the people excited for whats to come! Independant artist’s are focusing more on showcases and artist curated events seeking better treatment and encouraging empowerment for artists.

Did I forget to mention you had to sell tickets to get here? You asked for that support! You rehearsed and traveled hundreds of miles to perform because you knew it was time to bet on you!

When the opportunity presents itself do you defy the odds? I was compelled by a dream to be the best role model my daughter had and be irreplaceable. What is the beat of your drum? The rhythm of your life is based on your playlist. I loved the opportunity black Ink Radio and 2 Hot radio created for me and many other, I wanted to create the same opportunities for others! I wanted to use music to connect through experiences, lifestyles, and dreams. Some of us live them, some of us watch them; I do both!

It was an honor to be invited to so many 50 years of Hip Hop celebrations, events, and parties. One of my favorite events this Year was the “Welcome to Atlanta,” event curated by DJ Calvin Da Coordinator, at Haveli Lounge. We were able to take him from the crowd for a few minutes and Our Brand Ambassador Captain Shaurice Hill sat down with DJ Calvin Da Coordinator. This event was a part of the Atlanta leg of his tour stops and an impactful event for the culture, for the artists, and for the brands that come out and vend and network at these events.

Q: How was it Dj-ing in China?

Q: What is your favorite song from Russ’s new album “Santiago?”

A: It was a crazy experience. You’re dealing with people who can’t speak english, but they know the songs. They know “F*k u mean,” (By Gunna).

A: That’s a hard one, you know it’s a story. I guess I would say, “Fatima,” it’s the love part of is story and it’s how I feel about my girl.

Q: With you traveling how have you celebrated 50 years of Hip-Hop? Have you been able to celebrate 50 years of Hip-Hop? A: I Celebrated 50 years of Hip-Hop by repping Atlanta! I felt Like I didnt see a lot of representation for Atl. I’m gonna rep old ATL hits you never even heard of.

Q: With you being such a big DJ if you could collab with anyone who would that be with? A: Damn, It probably would be DJ Khalid. I just feel like we would match. I feel like i’m the DJ Khalid of the Independent artists.

As I approached my 49th cycle around the sun, I went to my primary care doctor for my well-womans visit. He did all the tests of my outward physical stature; he tested my blood which consists of a CBC (a complete blood count) which gives an overall picture of your health within. A week later I came back in to receive my results.

I was always relatively healthy most of my adult life, except for my 38th year, after I had my son who was 3, I had gained extra weight and developed high blood pressure, I wasn’t concerned because I had lost the excess weight and stopped eating a lot of fast food, lowered my fried food and salt intake. As he reviewed the results on his computer he then got up and came to the side of the exam table with his hands cupped,

BECOMING VEGAN: LIFESTYLE CHOICE FOR LONGEVITY AND WELL-BEING

he said, “Well, on the outside you look amazing, but on the inside, according to your blood test results, you look like an overweight person.” I looked at him He said, “well first your AC1 is high.” bewildered, “what do you mean I questioned?” “I asked what is that?

He said that is a test for your blood sugar levels.” “I said but what does it mean? He said, “you’re on the borderline for diabetes or pre-diabetic.” I said, “go on”, he then said,” your cholesterol is high, and your blood pressure is elevated. “Mind you, I worked in the medical field for about 15 years as a young adult, in the Internal Medicine Department among many other departments.

Embrace wellness with a side of wisdom! Here are 5 tips to help you live your best life: 1. Practice mindfulness present in the moment.

stay

2. Nourish your body & soul with healthy habits and self-care. 3. Surround yourself with positive vibes and supportive people. 4. Keep learning - knowledge is power! I had seen thousands of elderly patients walking in for their appointments with a bag of medications to review with their doctors. I said “oh no I will not be them,” yet here I was one year before my 5oth birthday faced with the exact thing that I said I did not want to experience.

5. Find balance between work, play, and rest for a happy mind and body

TRENDS 2023

He said, “I’m going to give you these medications, one to prevent you from becoming diabetic, one to lower your blood pressure and one to lower your cholesterol.” I literally told him, "You’re going to give me those pills so that I get diabetes, “he laughed and said no, no, no. I didn’t laugh, because I was serious. I had several family members who had died after years of taking medications. I had a family member who had to get an amputation after years of medications and died shortly after. I had very unhappy memories of family members who died from heart disease under doctor's care, so I was extremely skeptical. I took all the prescriptions, and got them filled, because I was scared and thought I definitely don’t want to be a diabetic, but in actuality I didn’t even know what that really meant. I knew what it meant as far as my body not properly utilizing my sugar, and I knew for sure that I was a big junk food eater who never ate any vegetables or fruits.

I even took the medicine for a few days, but I also started researching what could be my alternative? What if I went Vegan? I didn't know what that was, but I knew that a lot of “white” people and celebrities were doing it. I knew they were living a healthier life and living a lot longer than most of the people in my community. My research took a lot of time, but as I researched, I decided that I would become vegan. I knew from the beginning of my journey that meat and dairy were bad for you, so I cut them out of my life, cold turkey, (ha,ha,ha) I loved Porterhouse Steak, baked potatoes with butter, and sour cream, I loved barbeque ribs, baked and ham cooked on the grill.

The first thing I ate everyday was peanut butter and jam. I didn’t like vegetables the way most people in my family cooked them, boiled and full of meat, usually pork, to me that was a soup that I did not like.

I loved homemade cakes with pounds of sugar, and butter. I did not like vegetables, so this was going to be very hard. I did it the same day. I just decided that I was going to do it. I worked near a healthy food grocery store, so I started getting some of their meals from their prepared food bar. I tried a little of this and a little of that, I didn’t like most of it, so for a while I simply ate PeanutButter, and jam sandwiches every day. One day I googled vegan and a doctor's name came up he was being interviewed by some woman, they were talking about food, health, veganism, etc.

He had written a book about Salt, Sugar, and Fat and how it was a deadly triangle, so I was interested. As I listened, I learned that I needed to start reading the labels on the foods that I was buying at the grocery store.I had never done that before, boy were my eyes opened as I began to do that. I learned the difference in GMO’s (genetically modified organisms) and what they were, and actual food created by nature. I learned to start paying attention to what I was putting into my body. I learned about the excessive amounts of chemicals that I had been eating and feeding my children. I knew how to cook, but as a person who was now going to be eating less processed foods, I had to get better and become more creative if I wanted to stick to it.

It took me a few weeks to start getting creative. My best friend at the time would come over and loved my broccoli, red and green peppers, corn, onions, beans and rice bowls. She said they were as good as the Mexican restaurant that I won’t mention in this post, that would be free advertising. I was excited. I kept trying new items, I also began to add more fruits. I learned this is a journey. Everything we consume has an effect on our health and wellbeing. A few months later I went to my OB-GYN for my well women’s appointment. They always did my lab work there as a part of my visit. When the results came in the nurse called me with concerns about a few high readings, I asked the nurse to read me my numbers. I was pleasantly surprised that the numbers had all come down to normal or near normal numbers. The ones that were not completely normal levels meant I had improved but needed to work harder. I had taken notes on the first numbers I received from my Internal Medicine doctor, and as I read them to her, she was just as happy. This was when I knew the phrase” we are what we eat" was true! The more I studied the body, the nutrients that heal ailments, and the food that caused the most illness, I kept getting healthier.

I then learned that to get the numbers I desired I had to add physical activity to the new food intake. I started slowly, just walking around the block a few times. I kept increasing the amount of time and the number of steps according to my iPhone app. I had read that we need to walk at least 5 miles a day,

I found an app that Brittany Reiner created, I added that to my routine. So, after the 5 miles walk, I did about an hour ab workout religiously. After about a year of walking 5 miles or more a day, changing my food intake, cutting meat, dairy, processed food, fast food, etc.

3 to 5 days a week to produce a healthy heart, to release toxins, and to lose weight. This takes about 2 hours to do, no matter where you are walking. I walked everywhere. I also found that if I parked at the end of the parking lot in grocery stores, malls, etc. I could increase my steps per day.

I looked in the reflection of a glass of a bus stop I was walking pass and I noticed I had not only lost the weight, but I had a nearly flat stomach. I was happy and so proud. I had never had a flat stomach; I was always a little pudgy as a teenager because I loved sweets,

I started taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Once I got used to the 5-mile walk, which was me walking to the store 2 miles away and back to the house, I decided I wanted to trim my abdominal area. My stomach looked terrible; I took a picture before I started the workout routine.

and I did not like fruits or vegetables my whole life. I’m now 57 years young, vital, taking no medications and continuing the journey daily. I want to take you on your own journey to wellbeing and longevity. In our next issue of ROQKSTAR CREW MAGAZINE will teach you some of the things I’ve learned over the last 8 1/2 years and how you can take baby steps to start your well-ness journey. See you soon, your friend D.W.

ICONIC ROMANCE

THE

CARTERS! Megastars Jay-Z and Beyoncé have spellbound millions with their marriage story. The musical icons have experienced their share of romantic highs and lows, but instead of leaving the story to be told by the media, they chose to enumerate their personal journeys through marriage via songwriting, fashion, and storytelling. From the lighthearted and whimsical tone of youthful love in Bey’s early pop ballads to the darker and more complex tones of her loss of faith in her husband reflected on Lemonade, to Jay-Z’s reflections on the nature of manhood, love, and family on 4:44, the couple has used art to elevate the struggles of Black love, family love, and married love- in ways that have created meaning for many throughout the world. When we experience heartbreak, pain, or doubt, how do we meet these emotions? Is there a possibility of redemption after betrayal? Can our stories of struggle evolve into renewed insight into a partner? Do you, dear readers, believe in marriage as a potential vehicle for personal growth? In a world where the definitions of love and marriage are constantly changing, do you take hope from iconic marriages? How can we create positive images of marriage and self-expression in this new and challenging world? We hold these questions up as mirrors into which we can gaze and perhaps find new ways of seeing love.

LOST IN LOVE:

ROQKSTAR READERS

WRITE IN FOR ADVICE Q: Me and my boyfriend have been dating for five years. We have two children and a home together. He has cheated numerous times and although I provide him with emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual availability, he still wanders. What should I do? I don’t want to leave but I don’t want my children to think this is acceptable.

A: First off, I’m sorry for the feelings you are experiencing. Infidelity can cause deep emotional pain. Secondly, I want to validate your concern for what the takeaways may be for your children. Kids learn about love from what adults model for them. Our actions often speak louder than our words. I don’t know your financial status or what options you have for alternative housing but it sounds to me like you know that this situation isn’t emotionally sustainable. Have you ever considered a trial separation? I recommend seeking out a licensed mental healthcare professional who is experienced in relationship issues. If your boyfriend wants to save the relationship, couple’s therapy and change will be non-negotiable. As for you, garnering some professional support can help you to reclaim your belief in yourself and your ability to make a game plan. Remember, your love has value and so do you.

Q: I have a girlfriend who works, looks good, and she’s good in bed. I love her and I think she loves me but I don’t trust her intentions. I take her out often- shopping, dining, and vacations. We haven't gotten to a place where I think we should move in together, but I also notice she asks me to help with her bills monthly. Is she a leech or am I tripping because I literally pay for everything we do and I take her shopping, but should I just brush it off and pay the bills? A: Have you discussed these feelings with your girlfriend? If not, you may want to make a time to talk. Make sure you have a calm environment and time to discuss your feelings fully. If you feel like your girlfriend is dating you more for financial support than for love, it warrants discussion. When you have this discussion, listen deeply. Leave space to hear the truth between words. Is she just in a difficult financial season in her life? Is being taken care of monetarily how she believes women should be treated? Use your instincts and see how you feel as you talk. It sounds like you want the relationship to work but don’t fully trust your partner’s intentions. If she cares, she will want to talk this out and will demonstrate empathy. If things get sticky, consider a session with a qualified couples counselor, pastoral counselor, or relationship coach to see if you can improve communication in the relationship. Relationships all look different in terms of financial arrangements. What matters is that both individuals feel loved and supportedotherwise, resentment will build and the story is not likely to end in happiness. Don’t be afraid to express your truth in order to get clarity

PLEASE NOTE: ADVICE GIVEN HERE IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL CLINICAL COUNSELING. IF YOU NEED SUPPORT, TALK TO YOUR PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR. IN A

MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS, DIAL 988, 24/7. REMEMBER THAT YOUR HEALTH MATTERS.

I believe that love is respect. Healthy love requires us to know and communicate our personal boundaries. Boundaries allow us to experience both a strong sense of Self and a sense of connection to another simultaneously. Our boundaries are informed by culture, family of origin, past dating experiences, traumas, and personal values. When we allow boundaries to be crossed, or when someone violates our boundaries, we often feel it on both an emotional and physical level. It can be helpful to ask yourself the following questions when thinking about how to create a romantic relationship that is healthy and empowering for both parties:

● Where did I learn about love and connection? ● What were the messages I received about boundaries early in life? ● What are my dealbreakers or non-negotiables in a relationship? ● What does love mean to me? ● What makes me feel connected or loved? ● Do I ever cross the boundaries of others? ● In what areas do I need to grow in order to be able to love to the best of my ability? ● What does my ideal relationship look like? ● Am I comfortable expressing my personal boundaries? Why or why not?

The First step is to believe in yourself. Every step after that is easy because its ordered by God’s Purpose. -KIA EL BEY

One night, I was wrapping up a night of babysitting, and the kind couple who had just paid me asked about my summer plans. I told them I wanted to celebrate my engagement with a trip, but I didn’t know where. The couple told me to check out a beach destination they loved. The father of the family was a biologist and said this area was full of gorgeous ocean views and wildlife, without being overpopulated by tourists.

RECLAIMING TRAVEL AS AN ACT OF SELF-LOVE BY COURTNEY BARBER, MHC

When I was in my twenties, I nannied regularly. I loved learning the ropes with each new familyhow they handled bedtime, their unique family rituals, what they ate, how they parented, how they celebrated holidays- the things that made their family their own. I was young, engaged, full of hope, and taking notes on how I might design my future.

We took the advice and visited the area, immediately falling in love with the beauty the couple had described. This was the first of many summers spent along this stunning, tucked away stretch of ocean. Eventually, I would even marry here on a destination wedding trip. As time passed, the marriage took an unexpected turn, as many do. We ultimately divorced. As a newly single mom in graduate school,

I didn’t vacation again for years. When I was finally able to plan a weekend away, it fell flat. I stopped taking trips. If I didn’t like the location, why spend money I didn’t have? A realization eventually came when talking to a coworker who had visited that same magical oceanside site I had once loved so. It hit me. I loved that spot. It was not just a place that belonged to my former married life or to memory. It was a place that touched my soul as an individual. I realized I had been holding myself back. I needed to reclaim it as my own. I needed to create new memories there, with my daughter. So, I booked a trip. It was immediate joy. The place had its own charm and ambiance, as it had many years ago. The moral of my story here? When traveling, follow your heart.

TRAVEL TIPS:

CULTIVATING JOY

Your chosen travel destination is not about what should be fun, what other people think, or what looks good on paper. It’s not about instagram, or what’s hot right now, or what you think travel should like. It’s about engaging in an experience that brings you happiness. You work hard for your money. Spend it on something that brings you true satisfaction. The trip of your dreams is unique to your own personality and preferences.

Don’t let being broke stop you. Many of us are not in a place to take our dream vacation. Cost of living and pressures of family, finances, health issues, and work stressors may make it hard to imagine escaping. It may feel like travel is meant for others but not you. Don’t believe these feelings. They are understandable but you deserve peace, too, regardless of how your bank account is looking. Maybe the lavish vacation isn’t in the cards for this season, but what can be? Is there a friend or family member who's been begging you to visit their area? Have you ever tried camping or thought about renting an RV? Think outside the box.

When times are tough, a mini trip can help. Ask any single mama and they will tell you about day trips they planned when the kids were small. A day at an art museum, state park, or nearby tourist attraction might be able to give you that spark of happiness and variety while you tuck away a few bucks a month toward a larger trip next season. Check out your local library to see if they have any free museum or attraction passes.

Vacation is a time to rest, renew, revive, and to find perspective. So, create an experience that is your own! On a practical note, planning ahead helps. Here are some tips to keep in mind if you are longing to travel but don’t know where to start: Begin with your vision. Imagine, dream, research. Once you know what type of setting you are craving (ocean, mountain, or city, rustic, or luxurious) look into options for lodging and costs. Planning a good trip means negotiating your dreams with your budget. You may not be able to afford the exact setting you desire- but don’t tell yourself travel is impossible. Today, the options are endless, and more budget friendly than ever. Whether you book a motel, hotel, Airbnb, or campsite, try to remember what your priorities are on the trip. Are you traveling for work? Relaxation? Access to nature? Make sure to keep that intent at the forefront of your mind as you make decisions on location and accommodations.

When all else seems impossible, consider a staycation. A school vacation home where you cancel all plans and duties, plan a themed menu for the week, watch special movies, and encourage everyone to cut loose and rest without stress also counts as a vacation! What matters most is your intent. When you get creative like this, you’re modeling problem-solving, self-care, innovative thinking, and resourcefulness for your children. If you’re single, this models healthy boundaries and self-love for your friends and family. You never know who you might inspire when you take care of you. If you do leave the area, utilize reputable lodging review sites as you plan. Websites such as Google Flights, TripAdvisor, Air bnb, Expedia, Booking.com, SkyScanner, Oyster, Hopper, Yelp, and even AAA can help. You don’t have to wonder what a travel experience might be like. Hang on to Your Travel Dreams, No Matter the Timeline By the way, it took many years of schooling, building my business, caring for and burying my parents, and building a life before I took a big trip. My little girl’s dream had always been to fly on a planesomething I never experienced as a child myself. On the morning of her 14th birthday, I woke her up with bags packed and surprised her by letting her know we were headed on an adventure. The pilot actually wished her a happy birthday over the flight intercom when the stewardesses saw it was her special day. I teared up as she beamed in embarrassment and happiness. “I can’t believe this is really happening,” she marveled. “Dreams really can come true,” I said, as she looked out at the clouds below in awe.

A legacy is something left for others and So So Def is just that! So So Def is an American Record label based in Atlanta, the home of many Roqkstars, and owned by Super producer, rapper and mogul Jermaine Dupri. Do you "make time" for yourself or "make time for others?" A. Honestly, it’s very hard balancing work, life, love and self. Work has to be done.. obviously and you have to make time for your family and loved ones. Thank God for technology. I guess it’s something you just gotta make work. I always make time for myself, even if it’s at the very end of the day. It’s a must !

Shattering Boundaries

Imagine a narrative that defies the odds, one born from the depths of struggle and uncertainty, yet marked by resilience and an unwavering spirit. It's a story that transcends the realm of mere sporting achievements, delving deep into the hearts and lives of individuals who refused to be defined by their circumstances. Gloria, a teenage mother in Akron, Ohio, stood at the precipice of a daunting reality—poverty-stricken, devoid of hope, and uncertain of what the future held. For her son, LeBron, growing up amid the turmoil of an unstable home life was the harsh reality. Days were marked by challenges that would break most spirits—a relentless cycle of instability and deprivation that threatened to eclipse any semblance of a promising future. A pivotal moment arrived when Gloria made the heart-wrenching decision to allow nine-year-old LeBron to move in with a non-family member, a choice born of a desperate desire for a better life for her son. The harshness of LeBron's reality was starkly evident as he struggled through his 4th-grade year, missing half of it due to the constant upheaval of unstable living conditions. But amidst these challenges, LeBron's spirit remained unbroken. "They made me get up every day and go to school," he reflects. "Being part of a family... it was an unbelievable experience at a young age, it opened my eyes to become what I am today."

These Icons have Redefined Excellence in Sports and American Identity.

By Brandon Taylor Fast forward two decades, and LeBron James is not just an NBA icon; he's a living testament to the power of perseverance and resilience. Rising from the ashes of adversity, he's etched an on-court legacy as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. However, beyond the courts, LeBron's narrative is a symphony of empowerment and upliftment. His journey from poverty to a billionaire through basketball earnings alone serves as a beacon of hope for countless souls worldwide, illuminating the path to success and the ability to provide for one's family. His dream to play alongside his son Bronny in the NBA might soon become reality, marking an unprecedented moment of familial triumph. Yet, LeBron's greatness extends far beyond basketball statistics; it's manifested in his unwavering commitment to his community. Through the LeBron James Family Foundation and the I Promise program, he pours his resources into shaping a better future for Akron's youth, offering guidance, educational support, and scholarships to pave the way for their success.

Amidst these tales of triumph, there's also Brandon Taylor (co-author), whose journey echoes the spirit of determination and sportsmanship. His accolades and commitment to tennis mirror the resilience and dedication encapsulated in these inspiring stories of sporting greatness.

These narratives, woven from the fabric of adversity, speak to the indomitable human spirit. They teach us that amidst life's trials, dreams are not merely aspirations but attainable realities waiting to be seized. They remind us that success isn't just about personal glory; it's about uplifting communities, breaking barriers, and paving the way for others to follow suit.

In the world of sports, these luminaries aren't just athletes— they're beacons of hope, embodiments of resilience, and architects of change. They beckon us to embrace our dreams, surmount our obstacles, and stand tall in the face of adversity because, as LeBron James once said, "You can't be afraid to fail. It's the only way you succeed."

LeBron's tale of triumph amid adversity finds echoes in the narratives of other sports luminaries like Coco Gauff, whose ascent in the tennis world defies societal barriers. She stands as a testament to the possibility of dreams being realized, breaking down the elitist walls of a sport that historically barred those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Her journey, sponsored by Serena Williams' coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, propelled her to the pinnacle of junior tennis, embodying resilience in the face of adversity. Off the court, Gauff lends her voice to vital societal issues, proving that age is no barrier to advocacy and speaking truth to power. Aja Wilson's story is one of unexpected basketball prowess, a late bloom that blossomed into a multi-time WNBA champion and MVP. Her journey from a reluctant athlete to a game-changing figure is a testament to the power of embracing innate talent and the pursuit of one's passion. Wilson's commitment extends beyond the court; her foundation fights against bullying and raises awareness for children with dyslexia, showcasing the power of empathy and giving back. And then, there's Becky Hammon, rewriting the narrative of coaching in male-dominated sports. Her journey from an accomplished player to a groundbreaking coach in the NBA stands as a beacon of hope for aspiring female leaders. Her trailblazing efforts challenge gender biases and inspire a generation of women to shatter glass ceilings, proving that leadership knows no gender.

America Loves “The Color Purple, with an $18Million Christmas Day Opening! By D.S. Woodard Credit to BBC.com Picture it, Savanah Georgia the early 1900’s, the time when our ancestors owned acres of land and owned our own town full of businesses. Picture a time when our grandparents and our parents passed down land ownership without the government having a say. This was that time. The set was beautiful, the land was spacious, and the town owned by us was our truth. You are going to love the new vision of the producers Oprah Winfrey, Stephen Spielberg, Quincy ones and Scott Sanders. The musical aspect adds a great element, but the tears will still be there, thanks to Ghanian director, Blitz Bazawule. Credit to Ghanaweb.com We loved this movie and America agreed, with less than 4,000 screens showing it across the U.S., it was the #1 Christmas Day opening earning $18 Million for December 25, 2023, only second all-time in America, since $24 Million was earned by “Sherlock Holmes” Christmas Day opening in 2009. We had no idea, but the movie theatre was packed, most people had on purple to signify unity. It was quite beautiful, and it was positive. In our true fashion people clapped at appropriate times as if the actors could hear them, but that’s what we do. No one had a dry eye as the story was still very moving. There are quite a few added elements that will please those who have yet to see it.

My Auntie said she’s going to see it a second time, one of her best friend's family bought out 60 seats in their local theatre. This was on the same scale as Black Panther. What I love is that these numbers show that we can support one another, we can become a strong nation and stand firmly financially if we could get the proper leadership into place and begin to pool our money as our ancestors did not more than 3 generations ago or a little over 119 years ago. We as a people must research, study, and teach one another, and our future generations the old ways. If we owned the studio, and the movie theatre this would be so much more powerful. Our people, especially the younger generations, must learn how to circulate our money in our communities. This also means that our communities must learn how to do commerce properly so that we can sustain and then grow. My family has land from the early 1800’s in a family trust from my great grandparents, so it can’t be sold only handed down. I found out this year that my great great grandmother from the same early 1800‘s left land to be handed down, but it was sold because that side of the family didn’t talk to one another and forced the elders to give their portion away. This is what stuck out to me the most in this wonderful screenplay. Family must come together, stick together, and work together so that we all win. Please support our brothers and sisters who will benefit from more of our family stories being portrayed on their big screens, which will keep them employed until such a time when we come together and create our own venues. This is a thumbs up movie for all our Roqkstar Crew Members!
