MISSING LINK
Term 4 2015
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT As we come to the close of another school year I want to thank our students, staff, parents and deputy principals for creating a wonderful year. Thanks also to Director, Joanne Marshall for her support of the school’s desire to grow, create, innovate and be a leader in secondary education. This term, as well as all our usual events (the HSC, Year 12 formal, work experience, personalised learning weeks, sporting competitions, year events and a welcome to Year 6 students) the school took part in the new Department of Education External Validation Process. We were very excited to “excel” on all but 3 items, proving that we are providing an outstanding academic and extracurricular program for our students. It is one of the best experiences as a school to have other principals and senior departmental teachers rate the school so highly and it sets us up very well for another great year in 2016. So, as we end the year we can reflect on how much we have done, how well we have done it and the measurable difference it is making. We look forward to Year 12 HSC results and congratulate the 19 students who have already had university offers for 2016.
Finally I would like to thank and congratulate all staff for believing in our values and purpose and being willing to find new practices to create better learning every day. Some of our teachers are moving to take new appointments. They go with our regards and thanks. • Peter Langfield who has been here for 12 years and who has provided deep leadership in Music, ICT, Professional Practice and school change. He has accepted a position at Blaxland HS. • Sally Cain who has accepted the opportunity to relieve as Head Teacher English at Plumpton HS in 2016. • Rebecca Wallace who has been a leading teacher in TAS and has given great support to others as a Professional Practice Mentor. She has accepted a position at Hornsby Girls HS. • In addition, Peter Kenny has decided to retire at the end of the holidays and, we thank him for his work in Music and as the coordinator of the Learning Neighbourhood Djembe Drum Group. There may be some other staff changes in the weeks ahead and, for those moving on, can I extend my thanks?
