Your Pet is Your Mirror

As a People and Pet Therapist trained in various human and animal therapies, through my research and client work, I often see how pets are our messengers, showing us what we need to heal. The HeartMath Institute research shows our heart generates the largest electromagnetic field (EMF) in our body, which extends further out than the body itself – our ‘energy field’. The biggest way that pets sense the world is through EMFs, so they can pick up on our Heart’s emissions. They pick up not just emotions (e-motion being energy in motion), but they can also pick up on beliefs, phobias, physical symptoms (metaphysical level), our past traumas, etc. because everything is energy. They pick up not just from owners, but other pets, people, and the environment. In multi-pet households, one pet often mirrors one person, or different aspects of multiple owners. Rupert Sheldrake describes how a group bond (morphic resonance) is created between pets and their owners too, watch his video of Jaytee as an example. So a dog can tell you when you are focussing on that German Shepherd and how you are feeling. If you are feeling fear, they will behave in a way to create safety e.g. attack, bark, chase away, because EVERYTHING A PET DOES IS TO FEEL SAFE. If you feel unsafe, they will respond to that. This is also why we say focus on what you do want, not what you don’t want, because they will respond to your feeling and focus. In Parts work, I already know that what we dislike in others, we dislike in ourselves, and this applies to pets too. The more human qualities that we dislike in them, is what we dislike in ourselves e.g. neediness, people pleasing, etc. and it is up to us to do the self-acceptance and healing work in this regard. Two examples of this pet/owner mirror: Dogs that chase vehicles, bikes, etc. are looking to ground the emotional charge in their body (think lightning grounds in the Earth). The common mirror is the owner chasing connection – with themselves, a Higher Power or other people they can feel safe with. With over-protective pets, the owner is normally more protective of other people than of themselves, leaving their inner child/other parts of them feeling unprotected. The pet can sense it, and moves in to protect so the inner child feels safe, and thus the pet too.
