President AkufoAddo Launches 2019 PANAFEST and Year of Return in Cape Coast, Ghana From:Prof. Michael Baffoe & Jonathan Annobil, Cape Coast President Nana AddoDankwaAkufoAddo on Saturday July 27th, 2019 launched the 2019 edition of the Pan-African Festival (PANAFEST) and the Emancipation celebrations at a colourful ceremony at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium. This year’s celebration, also coincided with the declaration of the “Year of Return”. The events and the year-long celebrations are under the Theme: “Beyond 400 Years: Reaching Across Continents into the Future”. The PANAFEST, launched since 1992, is a special celebration dedicated to Africans and people of African descent. It is rooted in the ideals of Pan-Africanism and the development of the

African continent. The focus is to promote understanding, peace and unity among all African peoples, peoples of African descent and Africans in the diaspora. The EMANCIPATION ceremonies commemorates the significant day of August 1st, 1834 when the slave trade and slavery were formally abolished in most parts of the then British Empire. The launch of the events in Cape Coast were marked with great pomp and pageantry. Chiefs from the Central and Western Regions, and some from the Eastern Region were on hand in their full customary, traditional and cultural regalia to grace the occasion at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium. cont’d on pg. 50

Ghanaian Presbyterian Church Toronto Marks Jubilee Celebrations

The Ghanaian Presbyterian Church of Toronto has marked its 25 years anniversary with a commitment to continue to live up to its mandate as a true Bible-believing and practicing church. According to the church, it would continue to uphold the Centrality of the Word of God and through the enablement of the Holy Spirit, pursue a holistic ministry, so as to bring all of creation to glorify God. The Ghanaian Presbyterian Church in Toronto was started by a small group of visionary men and women in a basement apartment but today, it has a

membership of over 800 at their plush 51 High Meadow Place edifice in North York, Toronto. The Jubilee celebrations which were marked with a seven-day powerful jubilee revival jamboree themed ‘From Victory Unto Victory’; included a gospel rock show with award winning Ghanaian gospel musician, Diana Hamilton.
