The guest speaker for the occasion was Her Honor the Lt. Governor of Ontario, Elizabeth Dodeswell. “I want to begin by acknowledging Toronto as a sacred gathering place for

the many Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island. I recognize the long history of First Nations and Metis Peoples in Ontario and show respect in particular to the Mississaugas of New Credit’’, she said. She applauded NEPMCC for being the mouthpiece of the various ethnic communities across Canada and congratulated the recipients to continue the excellent work they are doing. M r. 28 Ghanaian-Canadians honored at an extravaganza ceremony in Toronto By Jonathan Annobil & Joe Kingsley Eyiah, Toronto On a wintry November night and precisely Sunday November 26, 2017, hundreds of people converged at 65 Claireport Crescent, Toronto to celebrate a night of excellence. The venue was Claireport Place Banquet & Convention Center, Etobicoke in Toronto and the occasion was the 17th edition of the Ghanaian-Canadian Achievement Awards. People from all walks of life within the Greater Toronto Area and other parts of Canada as well as from Ghana were there to

witness such a glittering event. Joe Kingsley Eyiah, Assistant Ghanaian News Editor since 1998 introduced Ms. Lucy Crentsil as his co-hostess for the event. Opening prayer and blessing of the food was done by Fr. Matthias Amuzu of St. Andrews Catholic Church after which dinner was served in the buffet style. Rendition of both national anthems of Ghana and Canada was performed by Bella Tee, a past award recipient, and was cont’d on pg. 6
