The celebration of the golden anniversary of Ghana’s independence in Toronto was well planned and executed over two weeks! It spanned from March 4 to March 19. The architects of such elaborate celebration
were the GhanaianCanadian Association of Ontario (GCAO). On Saturday, March 4, the festivities started with a gospel concert organized and directed by the youth wing of the GCAO at the Living
Word Assembly of God Church in Toronto. The function was well attended by the Toronto Ghanaian community and friends of Ghana including the youth, Chiefs, Pastors and a Minister of State.
Those who addressed the gathering were the Ghana Consul General in Toronto, Hon. John Bosco and the Canadian Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Hon. Kristy Duncan. Groups and individuals who performed at the concert included the Living Word Youth Choir, Bella T, Drew Anderson, Higher Faith Group, Rocky Prempeh, Daisy Agyeman, Kwabena Dwomoh, Felix Baffour and Elvis Yeboah. They sang and prayed for Ghana! The following day, Monday, March 6, was very cold in Toronto.

Complaints Against Ghana’s Missions Abroad Addressed at Toronto Town-Hall Meeting Consul General in Toronto Announces 3-day Waiting Period for Visa By Dr. Michael Baffoe, Winnipeg, Emmanuel Ayiku and Edmund Agbeko, Toronto
Th e c o m p la in ts an d misgivings that have been raised against the attitudes of the officials of Ghana’s missions abroad have been mounting and very troubling. The Ghana Consulate Office in Toronto is no exception! For a long time, visitors intending to travel to Ghana had to deal with only the Ghana
High Commission in Ottawa for all consularrelated needs. Being the heartland of the Ghanaian community in Canada, as well as the largest City in Canada, the need was felt for a “branch office” of the Ghana Mission in Canada or a full-fledged Ghana Consular Office in Toronto. cont’d on pg. 6
