As members of the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada headed by Thomas S. Saras hosted their year-end get together, last Friday night, politicians used the occasion to emphasize the importance or necessity to keep diversity uppermost in the minds of Ontarions. Premier Kathleen Wynn at the outset reminded the gathering they were assembled

on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the New Credit. It was important to note,the Premier said apart from the Indigenous peoples who still live on this land, everybody came from somewhere else. She called on Canadians to stand very, very tall and very strong and tell their story of harmonious multiculturalism, of pluralism that respect and doesn’t just tolerate but

embraces the differences between people. “It’s only in doing that that we are going to be able to take our rightful place in the world,” Premier Wynn stressed. She cautioned against taking for granted the harmony that Ontarions have been experiencing because it is fragile and can be broken. The three-time Flagbearer and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana AddoDankwaAkufo swept to a dramatic victory as the next President of Ghana in the 2016 Ghana Presidential Elections held on December 7, when he won 5, 716,026 votes of the projected 15 million voters representing 53.85%. He beat the incumbent President, John DramaniMahama who was

seeking re-election to second place, with Mahama securing 4,713,277 votes representing 44.4% of the total votes cast. The results of the Presidential elections, in the bitterly fought contest, represent two dramatic outcomes for both candidates: For Mahama and his National Democratic Congress (NDC), it was an unbelievable shock!
