PANAFEST & Emancipation Day kicked off in Accra with Wreath- Laying Ceremony By Jonathan Baah Annobil, Cape Coast, Ghana As part of events kicking off this year’s Pan African Theatre Festival (PANAFEST) and Emancipation Day for the Year of Return Ghana 2019, wreath- laying ceremonies took place on Wednesday July 24th, 2019 at 3 distinct places. The wreaths laid were in tribute to the Pioneers of Pan Africanism. The first wreath-laying took place at the W.E. B Du Bois Centre, then to the George Padmore Library and climaxed at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. They were to recognize the impact these heroes have had on Africa in terms of Pan Africanism and development.
