The annual awards event, named after Harry Jerome, Canada’s premier track and field athlete of the 1960s, recognizes and honours excellence in African Canadian achievements. In addition to the awards, the organizers of the event,

the Black Business and Professionals Association (BBPA) sponsors the Harry Jerome Scholarship Fund, providing financial support to African Canadian youth pursuing higher education. “Once the fastest man in the world, Harry was also dedicated to students and a pillar in his community who extended opportunities to others. we celebrate extraordinary achievements of proud Canadians who chose to be agents of change: trailblazers, young entrepreneurs, life-time achievers and entertainers.
