New “Seniors Keeping Connected’ Program Launched Staff Reporter, Toronto, ON
Pilgrim Feast Tabernacle launched a new program designed to nourish the well-being of our senior community. The inaugural event yielded smiles and laughter throughout the afternoon, as musical memories from the 60s and 70s and the aroma of delicious food wafted through the premises at Forks & Fingers Restaurant in Etobicoke (African and Caribbean cuisine). Participants noted that the event was well-organized, and the desserts were swooned over as ‘sinfully delicious’! The many shocking stories of seniors who suffered throughout the COVID pandemic revealed large gaps in their having access to sufficient care and companionship. Committed to the belief that every senior should have the opportunity to experience a vibrant and exciting life, the sponsors behind “Seniors Keeping Connected” sought to find solutions that would help reduce those gaps. The program has a mission of providing a supportive haven for seniors to congregate and socialize, together with a vision that these events will foster the natural evolution of a trusted and mutual support network for the attendees. cont’d on pg. 31
