Thomas Seshie The Ghanaian-Canadian Association of Ontario (GCAO) in collaboration with the City of Toronto on Saturday 4th May organized its 1st annual Spring Cleaning Initiative. The cleanup took place at the Chalk Farm Park, 2230 Jane Street, North York. The participants were not put off by the unfavorable weather that day, but converged in their numbers to take part in the project. The cleaning supplies were provided by the City of Toronto. The participants were then divided into groups as they sang, danced as they engaged in the cleanup with enthusiasm. The community spirit of giving back to the City of Toronto was on display
as they scoured the park and its environs way up to the area around the Manse of the Ghana Calvary Methodist United Church. The community members who took part in the 1st annual spring initiative included a large number of our youth, members of some community associations, pastors, Nananom, and Consulate staff led by Consul General Thomas Seshie as well the versatile Ghanaian News team. The rotunda of the Toronto City Hall was the venue for the celebration of World Press Freedom Day on Friday 3rd May, 2019. May 3rdwas designated as World Press Freedom Day by the UN General Assembly. This proclamation was to raise awareness of the importance of freedom of the press.
