Deutsch-Irische Wirtschaft: Die Erfolgsgeschichte Die Deutsch-Irische Industrie- und Handelskammer (AHK Irland) hat eine Broschüre mit zahlreichen Fallbeispielen aus der deutsch-irischen Wirtschaftswelt aufgelegt. „Deutsch-Irische Wirtschaft: Die Erfolgsgeschichte“ wurde der Öffentlichkeit am 22. Oktober 2013 vom irischen Regierungschef Enda Kenny im Rahmen einer Großveranstaltung der Kammer vorgestellt. Die zweisprachige Broschüre beinhaltet Fallbespiele von 15 Unternehmen der deutsch-irischen Geschäftswelt, bietet umfangreiche Daten zur irischen Wirtschaft, Informationen rund um Export- und Investitionschancen sowie eine Übersicht zu den wirtschaftspolitischen Positionen der AHK Irland. Sie soll deutsche wie irische Exporteure und Investoren dazu ermutigen, ihre Geschäftschancen in Irland bzw. Deutschland konsequent zu nutzen – so wie es die portraitierten Unternehmen bereits erfolgreich getan haben.
Die neue Broschüre stieß bei ihrer Vorstellung durch die Kammer in Dublin auf großes Interesse. The new brochure generated great interest during its launch event organised by the Chamber in Dublin.

SAP Ireland also empowers many of Ireland’s leading enterprises with some seven out of the top 10 Irish plc. companies using SAP solutions. Siemens is a global electronics and engineering company operating in the fields of industry, energy and healthcare as well as providing infrastructure solutions, primarily for cities and metropolitan areas. For over 160 years, Siemens has stood for technological excellence, innovation, quality, reliability and internationality. Siemens employs around 600 highly skilled people in Ireland, with offices in Leeson Close, Dublin 2, Clonshaugh, Dublin 17, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal and a diagnostics manufacturing facility in Swords, Co. Dublin. In addition, Siemens supports a large number of indirect jobs through sourcing over €100m of goods and services annually in the Irish economy. SIEMENS LIMITED, DUBLIN Siemens’ history in Ireland dates back to 1874, when the first direct transatlantic telegraph cable was laid from Ballinskelligs Bay, County Kerry, to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Siemens Limited was formed as a registered company in Ireland in 1925 and has been involved in many key infrastructure projects, beginning with the Shannon hydroelectric power scheme in 1926-29. Major projects include the construction of many of Ireland’s power plants, supplying the overhead catenary system equipment for the DART rail system, supplying Ireland’s first CT and MR scanners and the design and construction of the baggage handling system for Dublin Airport’s T2. Recently Siemens Limited received a major order for the construction and servicing of 42 direct-drive wind turbines to two onshore wind power plants for Bord na Móna.

SIEMENS HEALTHCARE DIAGNOSTICS MANUFACTURING LIMITED, SWORDS, CO. DUBLIN Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Manufacturing Limited is in operation in Ireland over 45 years. Established in 1966 by Technicon Corporation, the Dublin facility was previously part of the Bayer Diagnostics Group. In early 2007 it was acquired by Siemens and is now one of the primary manufacturing facilities for Siemens’ diagnostics equipment used throughout the healthcare industry. Employing around 300 people, the analytical systems manufactured within the Dublin site assist in the diagnosis of patient illnesses and diseases and assist physicians in treating these conditions. The Swords operation exports instruments to 46 countries worldwide and won Ireland’s Exporter of the Year award in the life sciences immunology and haematology category in 2010.
