Rongotai College is a secondary school for boys located in Wellington, New Zealand’s dynamic and cosmopolitan capital city. Each year, we welcome a limited number of international students from around the world.
Founded in 1928, Rongotai College has a long and proud history of achievement and success. International students who attend our school improve their English language ability, can gain an internationally recognised qualification, and are able to experience a quality education with outstanding facilities in a beautiful location close to beaches. Our experienced staff are committed to ensuring that our international students are well looked after, and our boys ensure international students are warmly welcomed.

HOMESTAYS
Rongotai College has families who are happy to look after your son while he attends the school. Our families are all experienced in homestay and really enjoy being involved with, caring for and assisting your son’s stay. We work hard to place your son with the family we believe will suit him best. We base this on the information you provide on the enrolment form. We understand that your son is a long way from home and it is important for both of us that your son is settled and well cared for.

FENCING
• Train with Wellington Swords Club 3 - 4 times per week
• Individual lessons and programme development with a former Olympian and high performance coach
Participate in NZ national and Wellington region age group and open competition
FOOTBALL
• High quality coaching at school, directed by Principal Kevin Carter, former NZ Age Group coach
Train with Rongotai College and a local football club 3 - 4 times per week and 1 - 2 local competition games per week
Participate in NZ national secondary school or Wellington region school competitions
AVIATION
• Access to Wellington Aero Club (situated 700 metres from Rongotai College)
• Rongotai College and the Wellington Aero Club are offering three aviation courses that are aimed at introducing students (Year 12 and 13) to the Aviation community
• Each package includes flight training towards the NZCAA Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
BASKETBALL
• Opportunity to train with Chris Tupu, ex-NZ Tall Black player, Assistant Coach of NZ Under-17 Men’s Basketball Team (2022) and Head Coach at Rongotai College
• Access to ASB Sports Centre (situated 700 metres from Rongotai College)
• Use of shooting machine - available for shooting practice
RUGBY
• New Zealand ‘s favourite sport and one of the most popular at Rongotai College
• We aim to develop young rugby players the kiwi way, playing with your mates and being immersed in the kiwi rugby culture
• Rongotai College is in the top four of Wellington secondary schools and has produced nine All Blacks
GOLF
• Learn from two excellent golf professionals and use Flightscope for golf swing tracking
• Membership to Miramar Golf Club. This includes unlimited play at Miramar Club, club tournaments, inter-club and regional competitions (dependent on personal skill levels)
• Miramar Golf Club is located within minutes of Rongotai College
