Invite your own guests. Include family members, close friends, staff members, and VIP customers that helped on the journey to opening your business to ensure a great crowd.
Spread the Word!
Share this event on social media, your website, etc. In addition, the Rome Floyd Chamber will create a Facebook event for your Ribbon Cutting and invite you to cohost that event. Please invite guests through that event page.
Provide Refreshments!
This demonstrates the hospitality of your business. Remember, not everyone eats, but it is always nice to have the option.
Get them to Come Back!
Hand out coupons, business cards, or flyers about an upcoming event that are at a later time and date.
Provide Music/Entertainment!
Music can impact the mood of the event and make people feel more comfortable.
Decorate!
Decorations do not have to be over the top, but create a banner or utilize decorations to make your ribbon cutting unique and memorable.
Make it Personal!
You will be asked to speak about your business before the Ribbon Cutting. Talking points include: how the business got started, how long you have been in business, your services, what makes your business unique, and introductions of your team.
Highlight Your Business!
Offer samples, tours, or demonstrations to engage and entertain your visitors.
Lists your event on the Rome Floyd Chamber’s events calendar page on our website, creates Facebook event, Facebook post, Instagram post , and includes it on weekly newsletters leading up to event.
Sends Ribbon Cutting information to our Ambassadors & Chamber Board of Directors.
Provides ceremonial scissors, bow, ribbon, and agenda for event.
Photos from Ribbon Cutting will be shared with the newspaper (This does not guarantee it will make print).
A Ribbon Cutting typically lasts around 30 minutes.
0:00 to 0:15- Meet & Greet/Tour of Facility— A time to welcome guests, meet new people, and show off your facility.
0:15 to 0:20- Opening Remarks President of the Rome Floyd Chamber, Pam Powers-Smith, or a Chamber representative will speak.
0:20 to 0:25- Remarks from Business–The Business Owner will have the opportunity to say something about their business or thank others.
0:25 to 0:30- Ribbon Cutting and Picture– Picture will be taken outside in front of sign or in a designated area.
0:30- Closing Remarks/networking
All ribbon cutting applications must be received three weeks prior to the date of the event for marketing purposes.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies are typically held on Tuesday & Thursdays at 10:00 am or 2:00 pm (Subject to availability of chamber schedule.)
All cancellations must be received no later than 10 days prior to event. If you choose to offer refreshments at your event you must use a chamber member, a list of chamber members can be provided.
