Location: TNBH Road, Sholinganallur
Sharpfins Primary School, located on Sholinganallur TNHB Road, sits parallel to the Buckingham Canal, amidst a rapidly growing residential area. The school’s thoughtful orientation leverages the predominant wind patterns to ensure maximum natural ventilation while strategically minimizing high solar exposure, creating a comfortable and energy-efficient learning environment.
Central to the school’s design is an open courtyard, flanked by two blocks that form both the courtyard and adjacent corridors. This layout promotes an interactive, airy, and lightfilled space that enhances the overall learning experience. The facade features strip designs and fins, which effectively reduce direct solar radiation on the building. This design choice maintains optimal lighting and ventilation throughout the school, providing a bright and inviting atmosphere without compromising on thermal comfort.
For accessibility and convenience, Sharpfins Primary School includes a dedicated drop-off lane on the right side of the site, accessible from the main road. Additionally, the front of the school features two entry and exit points, facilitating smooth school bus operations and ensuring efficient traffic flow during peak times.
Committed to inclusivity, the school is designed to be a barrier-free environment. Ramps at all entrances and exits, along with a lift, ensure that all students, staff, and visitors can navigate the school with ease and independence.
This combination of thoughtful architectural design, strategic orientation, and commitment to accessibility makes Sharpfins Primary School a model of contemporary educational facilities, promoting a sustainable and inclusive environment for all its users.
