Celebrating a Successful Year

As weapproach theend of a busy year,we take a moment to reflect on a successful term, academically and across the school. We are grateful for your continued support as a valued partner of the Roedean community and we are pleased to share an update on our strategic direction and exciting developments shaping the future of the School.
Proud Heritage, Bold Future
As you know, we are very proud of our long-standing reputation for delivering an outstanding education and our commitment to continuous improvement. In response to the evolving landscape of the independent schools’ sector, we have recently undertaken a strategic restructure. This was a vital step to ensure Roedean remains at the forefront of girls’education.
A Strengthened Structure for Continued Excellence
Following a comprehensive review of our operations, staffing structure, and curriculum, we are implementing a structure that will strengthen the school and ensure we continue a trajectory of excellence. As is the case every year, we have several colleagues leaving the school to take up roles elsewhere, and where needed, we have been able to recruit from pools of outstanding candidates.
The Full Roedean Experience for Every Student
Our commitment to the education of young women remains as strong as ever. The distinctive features that make Roedean so special will continue to be central to school life. From Wild Fridays and the HHH programme, to the Year 7 Instrumental Project, the Farm, concerts, performances, and an extensive range
of enrichment opportunities, every student will benefit from the full Roedean experience.
Innovating Our Academic Offer
We are also excited about the future of our academic provision. Our broad and ambitious curriculum will continue to evolve, inspired by student interests and educational innovation, matched by the development of excellent facilities. Following the opening this year of newly refurbished Design & Technology and Formula 24 workshops, as well as two new Science classrooms, this summer we will open an integrated student support centre The new centre will enable us to further support students to flourish academically.
Supporting Pathways to the Future
We are also launching a new Futures centre with facilities to support students to make informed decisions about their pathways to the future, together with our continued commitment to supporting a wide, diverse and ambitious range of applications to universities in the UK and beyond.
A Nurturing and Supportive Community
Above all, Roedean is a community founded on collaboration, shared purpose, and mutual respect. Our pastoral provision will be enhanced with a new classroom space dedicated to students’ personal development and wellbeing. Students’ boarding experience will be enhanced by the appointment of full-time graduate students who will join our team of highly experienced boarding staff. They willbe able to contribute their expertise and enthusiasm across a range of School activities and will be living on-site to provide support in the boarding houses.
Boarding That Grows With Our Students
We have also recently communicated to parents that current Year 11 boarders will remain in their main School Houses for their Year 12. During the day, they will continue to make use of the Sixth Form Centre, along with the Year 13s, creating a Sixth Form community. This development will enable girls in youngeryears tobe leddirectly by sixth form boarders to whom they can look for inspiration and guidance. Keswick House will become a dedicated boarding house for all Year 13s, providing them with an experience which will prepare them for moving onto university following their A Levels. These changes to the boarding structures will enhance our boarding provision ensuring that students continue to have access to high-quality living accommodation and social spaces.
Adapting With Purpose in a Changing World
Whilst we recognise that change can be unsettling, our strategic focus is to ensure that we remain flexible and adaptable to be well placed to respond quickly and effectively to the changing educational and global economic landscape. Whilst day and boarding fees had to increase this year, due to increases in cost beyond our control, such as the imposition of VAT on tuition fees, we remain committed to providing a very high-quality educational and boarding experience with excellent facilities and expert staff. We will be communicating the fee structure for the coming year towards the end of June Please be reassured that we are doing all we can to ensure that any fee increase will be no higher than the levels necessary to minimise the impact on our families.
A Vision for the Future
Our strategic planning, highlighted in some of the areas outlined above, aims to ensure that Roedean continues to be a school of excellence for generations to come. Thank you for placing your trust in Roedean, and we look forward to working with you in the years ahead to offer young women the opportunity to flourish in the world.
